Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

You got to very off the beaten path nowadays to really get that dream. Read an article on the triangle business journal how the rise in property costs has people looking at random ass towns in Kansas now . Lol.
It is enough to alter your life plans and settle for areas you otherwise wouldnt consider.

It’s interesting , thing is the rise in property cost is not just limited to booming areas . Home prices have risen in far flung towns with little to no growth at all. Frickin Detroit man!

I love motor city pasttime, but damn unimaginable that it hasnt sunk real estate wise.

December 2000. That was easy. I was going to get 12" for sure. Ended up with 12 flakes. Horrible, horrible bust. As good as January was, December was that bad.
Was that the one that scarred Fishel for life?

I feel your pain. I am pretty much a lifelong resident of Southern Wake County and the area I live in has become almost unrecognizable to me with all of the road construction and residential development going on around me. I often get frustrated with the increasing traffic and the desolation of the landscape around me to shoehorn in more people and the fact that there is little I can do to stop it. There is a bright side to everything though, even this dilemma, think about how much your property value is increasing and how much that can do if you ever decide to sell and move to greener pastures one day.
Same. We moved to SE Wake in 2003. All of the fields and farms and woods have been turned into neighborhoods. Too many people and the roads are still the same. Plus we have to watch people 3 miles away get snow while it rains. I hate it here lol

Weren’t you like 5 then tho ? I mean i was around that age for the big February 18 inch snow in Charlotte .

I was 4 and I can still remember the snow drifts. The local radio guy at the time is actually on the NWS Birmingham page about it... 4 foot drifts

1993 we actually walked to a friend's house because I guess he had power... I can still remember the struggle ?

I don't remember the leadup at all though but that was before models and the internet... I know the radio guy thought the NWS was crazy ?

75% of the board under some type of winter weather advisory/watch/warning and another potential threat just around the corner and Larry over in the Januworry thread telling us the MJO finally in a good spot, naw dog really? Lol

I kid Larry I kid

I didn't but while Enron was fleecing people, I worked at RadioShack during my mid 20's, at about the time the 1st store closings started filtering through.
RadioShack was awesome ! Shame it’s gone . I saw this in Washington nc though. Is it an actual radio shack? Official name ok google maps is “ Thomason TV and RadioShack”

If we (walker county) figure out how to miss out on another winter storm next weekend, I may stop following this hobby. It’s been about 6 years since we’ve seen more than a dusting here and have missed north, south, east and west on several occasions. Current storm is North as was last weeks and next weeks looks to be mostly east. Rapidly getting frustrated…
