Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

Man. These last 3 weeks have been so exhausting. Tracking winter events all day every day, college and work. I hope the winter weather can chill for a little while lol
Logan. What you just said is profoundly disturbing, and I urge you to seek professional help immediately.

Lmao if he's not careful it will be years before it snows again ??? we all know how it was going over there before this month
Seriously. If we get a snow drought after this, might need to save that quote so we'll know who to blame over here. ?

Ok, but it's irrelevant to the big picture. We don't live in his backyard, and the precip may be hundreds of miles away anyway. These seem to be posted for no reason valid to the topic of the thread. Oh well, just my opinion.
It's a bitterly cold night in the south, those post are observational and fine just as if it were an ongoing winter storm. Plus it's the January thread, literally only 2 days left in the month and nothing else going on, it's absolutely on topic and relevant for that thread.

I’m still up here in Boston the streets and cars here are covered in snow and I’m still yet to see the plow trucks come this way honestly I don’t know if I’ll be heading back home to Montana today

I've noticed we have a lot more members outside the "southeast" these days. When the website launched, I believe our major thinking was a Southeast type website... but it seems we aren't going to be locked into just the traditional Southeast zones.

For everyone outside the traditional Southeast of say MS, LA, AL, GA, SC, NC, TN, VA, FL, AR, KY:
What do you like about this website? Especially versus others like Storm2k, American, TennesseeWX, Stormtack, etc?

Everybody at American seems very egotistical, there are some great Mets and posters, they are not very receptive to new members, from what I’ve seen. I’ve not been to the other boards you mentioned

So in essence, you're saying this website feels more friendly/welcoming to new and returning members as a whole?

I'm asking these type of questions because I'd like southernwx to build on our stronger parts to make the place even better.

I am actually going to make a thread dedicated to this that everyone can participate in; please give me a little bit.

Well as a member on other sites as well, I like this site due to the variety of topics. There is not a religious thread anywhere else, or a dating thread, or other such threads...... Southernwx is truly unique.

Okay thanks guys. I'm working on a thread right now :)

For me the posters in the mid Atlantic at American are not friendly. My coastal climate is more like NC- and the people are so much friendlier in this forum. Dc and Baltimorons think the world revolves around them

Yes. Exactly what I’m saying. When a new person posts here, they will get a ‘hello’ and ‘welcome’ from most members and a welcome aboard, what have you. You post over there , crickets . Just how it is. So yes it’s much more welcoming and laid back here, with just as knowledgeable posters and members! Every time I go look over there, my butthole puckers! It’s just a tense , uneasy feeling.

Did Montanasnow really chase the blizzard from Montana to Boston? That picture of the car looks like straight from the weather channel ?

You may have a career in photography man!
I’m with you on this. Had the exact same thoughts. I’m skeptical. But on the other hand the only pictures we got from Dustin were of his car windshield ?

Hey guys. I've been following this site for a while and decided to finally join. Just wanted to say this next system reminds me a lot of last winter.
Welcome . Tennessee has great winter climo yet we hardly have many active posters from there . Need more Tennessee posters so they can draw ire from the Deep South people instead of us north Carolinians !

Damn! When they plow parking lots where do they push the snow? Do they just bury cars in their parking spaces?
Yup! That was always the biggest pain living in a townhouse during one of those. So you go dig your car out but there's really nowhere to put snow so you get massive piles. In 2010 I saw one collapse and total a car in my lot.

People up there have to dig out a parking spot , put something there to claim it , then park . Apparently people steal parking spots often . You dig it out , go get your car , someone took it . Ooof . That’s terrible !

Atleast I’ve got clippers! ???
