Yeah man, my first storm on Talkweather was the storm the day of Obama's inauguration in January 2009, haha. Wasn't much where I was in Greensboro, but in Raleigh that was a good one. My first big storm IMBY was March 2009, a good storm for many on this board! It's been that long? Dang.
omg was 2009 almost 12 years ago ? Time is going by way too fast !Yeah man, my first storm on Talkweather was the storm the day of Obama's inauguration in January 2009, haha. The 93 Blizzard happened right after a Democrat was elected. Could this be deja vu ?Democratic President and SE winter are awesome. The next 4 winters will be amazing ! Book it
I’m running out of years on this earth. My guess is that most on this board Won’t see a 93 type blizzard again. That was a perfect storm. Too perfect. The 93 Blizzard happened right after a Democrat was elected. Could this be deja vu ?
There will never be another 1980 storm with the extremely cold temps and blizzard conditions. However, there will be other 1993 type super storms...... just not affecting the same area as the last one did.I’m running out of years on this earth. I hope so.There will never be another 1980 storm with the extremely cold temps and blizzard conditions. However, there will be other 1993 type super storms...... just not affecting the same area as the last one did.

What does one living in Iowa and another living in Charlotte have to do with anything ?
You could say that there’s good snow the year before Republicans are elected. 1980, 1988, 2000, and 2016.

Not a perfect storm for those in eastern NC.I’m running out of years on this earth. My guess is that most on this board Won’t see a 93 type blizzard again. That was a perfect storm. Too perfect.

and ironically it had arguably the best snowstorm in the history of the SE (1993). There were 3 winters in the 90's I liked ( 1992,1993, 1996).Clinton was president in the 90s and that was truly the worst decade overall for snow lovers in the SE US & it's honestly not even close.
I don't think I've ever seen such a large swath of 6"+ in the southBest snowstorm? Unless, you lived in isolated areas of Alabama & Georgia, nah. Overall, for the entirety of the SE US, January 1940 is a hard one to beat

93 makes up for the bad years in the mid 90s.Clinton was president in the 90s and that was truly the worst decade overall for snow lovers in the SE US & it's honestly not even close.

That one would have been fun as hell!Best snowstorm? Unless, you lived in isolated areas of Alabama & Georgia, nah. Overall, for the entirety of the SE US, January 1940 is a hard one to beat

Yeah, it was a very Alabama-centric board back then, then we NCers began to corrupt it, hahaha.I remember when you came to TW I think me and metwannabe were the only nc members at the time. Remember the inauguration storm well was buying the WiNtEr Is OvEr after new years from so many. I believe that storm is the last 6+ storm I've seen in person
That's really sad to hear. I hope you feel better soon! 2020 has just been the year of the blues, just about everyone on the board deserves a snowstorm.@Ollie Williams Yeah, I was feeling physically exhausted and somewhat depressed all day yesterday and last night was even worse. I had a huge argument with a now ex friend and now I'm just kinda done with life.
I amAnyone watching UNC-ND ?
Carolina !!!!! Lessss go. If Carolina beats Notre dame then hypothetically we also beat Clemson !!!I am
Honestly I'm not really shocked UNC is hanging in there. I've felt for a while that ND is overrated. They beat Clemson without Trevor.Carolina !!!!! Lessss go. If Carolina beats Notre dame then hypothetically we also beat Clemson !!!
Just wanted to say that I moved to SW michigan over the summer for career reasons but given the dud that just happened in regards to this upcoming storm (had like 8-16 inches forecasted for my area up until yesterday morning) is proof that even if you leave the south... the south busts will follow you lol
or i guess i just needa stop looking at model storm projections greater than 72 hours out. but i cant.
You might wanna update your location ! It's good to see yet another state represented on here. If you are in SW Michigan I'm assuming you are near the lake which means you have a lot of snow in your future. Also, I don't think a forecast 4+days away that fails to materialize is considered a bust.Just wanted to say that I moved to SW michigan over the summer for career reasons but given the dud that just happened in regards to this upcoming storm (had like 8-16 inches forecasted for my area up until yesterday morning) is proof that even if you leave the south... the south busts will follow you lol

At least you get another crack at redeeming yourself this winter in Michigan, sometimes an 8-16" busted forecast sting lasts for years, if not decades before another opportunity like that presents itself
It's a beaut !Tree’s up! (Or if you ask southernwx it’s nailed to the wall)

Went up to Linville NC to get it today! Decorated it before my siblings head back to respective collegesIt's a beaut !
Similar thing happened to me when I moved to western Massachusetts from 2018-2020. We busted hard on a snowstorm in January 2019. Had 18-22 inches of snow forecasted 3 days out by the NWS but only ended up with 5 inches of a crusty sleet/snow mix. Albany 30 miles to the NW got 17. I moved 500 miles north and still ended up on the wrong side of the R/S line lmao. At least in NC we bust by a few inches, but up there they bust by feet.Just wanted to say that I moved to SW michigan over the summer for career reasons but given the dud that just happened in regards to this upcoming storm (had like 8-16 inches forecasted for my area up until yesterday morning) is proof that even if you leave the south... the south busts will follow you lol
