Misc 2020 Banter Thread

Let me tell y'all, this rain that we've had over this year so far has really bit us in the butt with those usual cockroaches. It's honestly to the point where we need an exterminator to me (although I know that it's unlikely one's coming). We always get roaches in the spring/summer, but this spring, I smelled something musty in the laundry room (which can be an indicator of a roach problem), and I believe I've seen up to four roaches in the bathroom late at night at the same time. Two bigger ones, and two others that were smaller.

I'm always jittery about them, but that night really stunk. I had to clean the sink, and I was working so slowly as I was so worried about a roach possibly crawling on me.

Tonight, dad killed three of them, and even I killed one. We've even seen them in the daytime lately some (although once was in a somewhat darker area and today...well yesterday was early in the morning, although the sun was up).

I thought this was well done!

Want to see who the media hypes things? This is out of an article from the Washington Post.

How can you tell the two apart? The Asian giant hornet, about 1.5 to two inches long, is substantially larger than the European hornet, which tends to be a little over an inch long, as shown in the chart below.

Their chart. Who knew the European Hornet is a little bigger than a Yellow Jacket and is way smaller than the “murder” Hornet.

Now here is an actual comparison. A is the “murder” Hornet and B is the European Hornet. Amazing huh.

Ok, but what the hell is "C"?

Yeah I’ve held them before, it’s the males that are aggressive but they don’t have a stinger

I've seen one before coming out of a hole and it's size is freaky. What made me wary is I've read these "hawks" pack one of the most painful stings in the world despite being docile. My luck, one would fly down my shirt by accident.

Almost sounds like you talking about the tarantula hawk wasp, which has the second most painful sting known to man, but are generally known to be very docile, here’s coyote Peterson being a dumbass but taking one for the crew and giving us a example of what this sting feels like
Many other experiences people have shared says that basically when your stung, you temporarily cannot move, and the only thing you can do, is scream, it’ll put you to the ground, but the venom they have, is not dangerous at all, not one death from these wasps

You know I was actually watching him be a idiot stinging himself the other day. I did get the feeling he was over reacting a bit though. My wife was stung by what we assume was a European hornet in the leg. She said it felt like being hit by a ball bat and her leg swell up twice its size for a week. I definitely had that in mind when I exterminated that EH nest last fall. Even though I did have my bee suit on. It was for moral support only because they can sting through it.
