Misc 2020/21 Fall and Winter Whamby Thread

I know erryone is tired of rain, but since its not going to snow again, Id love for the tropical airmass over FL to migrate north so I can at least see some tropical cumulonimbus thunderstorms develop morning to mid afternoon. Right now our SE climate here is stuck in between and all we get is stratus.

I have a Jeep Wrangler. I take the doors and top off all the time in the summer. One day while driving 55 down a hwy a big bee was trying to fly into me, I swatted and sped up to 70, and the damn thing still got back to me. It stayed right with me for over a mile. How in the heck does that happen?

Back in the 80s when patterns still worked we got snow in April.

Back in the late 2010s before patterns broke we could get snow in April, too. Now? I don’t know.

I had never seen one of those monster roaches until I moved to Florida. I saw my first one crawl onto a Pop Tart I was eating in the dark watching a movie and that scared the hell out of me, not gonna lie. I saw another a month later, then I sprayed a bunch of bug spray and never saw another live one inside my apartment, at least.

I haven’t sprayed any bug spray here at my place in NC, but I haven’t seen one (knock on wood). I see them outside some, but not inside...yet. I did get a clicking beetle inside once that was kind of freaky since they’re so loud. And a long centipede.

Forgot to mention, I also got a couple lizards in my apartment in Florida. For some reason, that freaked me out less than the roach, though. I hate hard shelled bugs.

I’ve never seen a roach in my car, though I suppose an infestation is possible. I did used to have some issues with ants occasionally in one of my older cars, though.

Something broke in 2019, and now we’ll never see precipitation fall below freezing again.

That one was fun. I wasn't expecting more than a few flurries. I woke up and school was still on as scheduled (I was in high school at the time). Then WCPSS announced a 2 hour delay around 6:10am. Temperatures were in the low-mid 20s and it was a very fine powder. By 7am roads were quickly covered and WCPSS canceled school.

I remember this one well because the rgem and nam were the only models that had anything until about go time. If I remember correctly it snowed just about all day
 
To avoid cluttering the Feb thread with this, curiosity got the best of me and I went through IEM to see how many svr tstorm warnings were issued for each county in the GSP CWA from 1/1/20–12/31/20. Generally, the counties are oriented by state from west->east as the crow flies.

TLDR, the top 5 most warned counties were Spartanburg SC (53), Greenville SC (50), Mecklenburg NC (43), York SC (43), Laurens SC (42). The SC counties generally had more warnings than even the more warned NC counties, and GA barely had any (Rabun GA led the way with 14). I found this pretty interesting, I really love the seemingly random dynamics of pop up storms. At some pt I may go back and see what % occurred in summer storm season (May-August) and what % occurred outside that window.

I feel like we torch in May, but our severe threats will come from NW flow/shortwaves passing to our NE, more typical of a Nina (2011 for ex)

Huh? I’m 18, senior in high school. I get out of school early because I only have 5 classes, and I drive myself home
