Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

Having that snow start around noon on Friday afternoon and being able to enjoy it with no concern about work? Lol. Seriously though I would just for once like to score on the front end of a 5-7 day cold shot and have it around for a few days

Yes that would be awesome!

GEFSUS_prec_meansnacc_384.png The GEFS looks very good concerning the 2nd half of January. This maps show snow, but doesn't include other forms of winter precip. Could this finally be year where the I-20 corridor areas Augusta and points east gets major Winterstorm this year after not receiving a major winterstorm since FEB 2014?

notice how it stops at the Alachua County line? ... Pics of green grass coming ...

Anybody else feel like this is all just a set up for a great winter for the MA and NE, and not so much the SE?

Not going to be too much melting here over the next few days and they are calling for another snow next weekend. I may not see the grass again until March !

3 new pages in the Jippy January thread, over 2 cold fronts! Awesome

I'm just going to be quiet about the snow maps in the Jan. thread before things get out of hand (again) Apparently, some can't handle the reality of snow maps and or modeling.

I just don't get why someone even comes here to follow things if you don't really want to have fun looking at the long range runs and maps, and seeing what could be possible and then seeing if it becomes reality. Might as well just stick to your local 7 day forecast.

That's fine that some wants to have fun looking at the snow maps that are posted here. I have fun looking at them as well, but I'm not going to hype it up. Modeling/snow maps in a 7 day window have a better chance at becoming reality vs the mid to long range. If I had hopes for the mid to long range about a snow storm, and if it failed, my hopes would go down the drain - I don't want that.

Friendly reminder re: Posting

The GFS and friends will be rolling shortly. There’s a lot of excitement about the upcoming pattern change and coincident winter storm chances. And rightly so. After enduring the lengthy stretch of boredom that we’re hopefully coming out of, the renewed enthusiasm for what may lie ahead tends to lend itself to a little extra, and often off-topic, commentary in the pattern and storm threads.

Let’s try to remember that this Banter thread is very active and well-read. Banter, one-liners, funny gifs, and sidebar conversations are welcomed and encouraged here. Please try to keep the Pattern and Storm threads honed in on pattern analysis and discussion general and specific storm threats.

Things like: “The GFS is stupid”, “That looks cold”, “This run gives me two inches of rain”, “This two inches of rain gives me the runs”, “I like snow”, and “Yippee Ki Yay, Mr. Falcon” are best posted in this thread. Comments similar to the above will likely get moved over here over the coming days. Please don’t take offense, as none is intended.

Now that things seem to be picking up, this will help us keep the Pattern and Storm threads uncluttered and easily read. Hopefully, we will all get to have some winter fun very shortly.

Please PM me, other mods, or the staff if you have any questions or if we can be of help in any way. Thanks very much for your help with this, and have a great rest of the weekend.

Sad thing is we probably won’t see another gefs run as good as the 18z . That run was epic

I think if we can keep the stj going into February, we'll see a lot more of them. That's what happens when you mix cold air and moisture and mix em all up...lol.
