I saw this the other day and I seriously can't believe it... This gator is trying to ring the doorbell, lmao.

was just thinkin' about years gone by -

the sun did not shine.
it was too wet to play.
so we sat in the house
all that cold, cold, wet day.

i sat there with sally.
we sat there, we two.
and i said, 'how i wish
we had something to do!'

too wet to go out
and too cold to play ball.
so we sat in the house.
we did nothing at all.

Had to give in and turn on the AC. Had the windows open and ceiling fans on, but my wife said she was hot. Gotta keep the wife happy so she'll be hot later on.

One thing this winter had done, it's made me glad I'm not an IU fan Ranked as high as #3 early in season, now barely over 500 lol

SAV got a rare 1" from this. But I've been trying to figure out if Gainesville got snow on 2/13/58. Do you know? It appears unlikely except perhaps for some northern suburbs. Here's why:

I see that Apalachicola got 1.2". I see that Lake City got snow (0.44" was mainly from "melted snow"). No surprises there.

Now, closer to Gainesville:

High Springs got 1/2" of snow:

Starke got 30 minutes of light snow:

But this station 3 miles WSW of Gainesville didn't indicate snow anywhere (it shows a high of 58, low of 29 and 0.34"):

Also, none of Palatka, St. Augustine, Cross City, and Cedar Key indicated any snow.

Conclusion: snow got at least down to a line from High Springs to Starke. Perhaps some northern suburbs of Gainesville like yours were near the southernmost point.

Those are Jax readings from NWS Jax I posted! I was too young in 1958 to even remember the way out of the crib! Lived in Jax in those days. Have no idea what happened in Gainesville, except that the football team probably sucked!

I know they were from Jax. I was just curious about the most southern latitude of the snow from this system and figured you might have heard about snow in Gainesville in 1958 if it had occurred due to living there for quite awhile. Also, when I said that perhaps snow got down to your northern suburbian area, I didn't mean to imply I thought you were actually there then or necessarily even alive then.

My neighbor is 72 and he remembers it (snow that is) FWIW

This is great stuff! Was your neighbor living in the same northern suburb of Gainesville in 2/1958?? Does he recall whether it stuck and if so, about how much accumulated? As of now, the furthest south I've been able to find that it stuck is the 1/2" at High Springs. Your neighbor's report could bring the sticking snow line even further south.
