11Z hrrr sucked me in a little for around lunch time but 12z sounding was like 5 degrees warmer. It was verry close to a snow sounding at 11 z. Oh well.

Radar looks really, really good for Highlands/cashiers/brevard, imo. They should stay inside the pivot and get heavy rates for the next 5-6 hours.

The elevation is the difference in the Huntsville area, I'm near downtown and it's been all rain with the surface temperature bottoming out around 34-35.

Rain and snow here. But I am still waiting on that blizzard that was promised to me yesterday. HRRR has potentially a nice piece of precip moving through as the backside pivots through. If you're going to see snow that will be the best chance you're going to get.

Would be a historic snowstorm if it was a tad cooler aloft
Made the drive up the to Beech Mountain currently at 5k elevation. Just started heavy wet snow with rain mix. A bit more sleet starting around 4K elevation. Boone and everything around the 3500’ make is still rain.

It’s snowing at probably the top 1500-2000 ft of the mountains 6 miles to my NW on the state line. You can see it the snow clouds and where it’s switching over to more rain below 1700 ft.

Nothing but sleet down in Maggie Valley city limits. Getting lunch and headed up to Cataloochee, so hopefully it will still be coming down!

That surprises me a little. Weird system. Mid levels improve a little after 3 or so. If you can stay cold at the surface, you may get something late afternoon or evening.
