28.6/26.3. Snow coming down but we're just not getting those rates yet like further south. Concerned on the thermals going to sleet before we even hit an inch.

Trend colder though from prior runs. Doesn’t flip us to rain anymore. Kind of expect a continuous correction
Yeah, north end of Georgia will get lot less than Atlanta and I-20 area is getting. Much heavier rates down that way.
Some of you just need to a little breather and relax. The snow will eventually make its way into the Charlotte area. It was never supposed to start until after noon. Yes, the heavier returns are south for now, but overall it’s moving northeast, slowly but surely. Hang in there

Temperatures
will be a bit tricky today as much will depend on the thickness
of the cloud cover and how quickly and to what extent evaporative
cooling occurs. We continue to prefer the slower model guidance
in regards to how soon measurable precip begins, with little,
if any, expected through the morning. However, if any precip
does develop earlier than anticipated it would likely be mainly
in the form of sleet/snow given the deeper/colder air in place.
Precipitation chances will generally increase this afternoon and
tonight in accordance with deeper moisture and more forcing
with chances diminishing from west to east late tonight as the
surface low pressure system moves away to the northeast. Still
looks like the best timeframe for wintry weather will be this
evening into the wee hours of Saturday before warm air aloft
increases with a tenth to possibly two tenths of an inch of ice
accretion expected, especially on elevated surfaces near/west
of I-95. Any sleet/snow accumulations should be even less. There
is a small chance of some light ice accretion a bit closer to
the coast so the Winter Weather Advisory may eventually need to
be expanded a bit closer to Conway and Wilmington.

No. I'm just south of I20 on the SW side of Atlanta. If you are familiar with Cascade road area and I285, I'm in that general location.

Can see the snow/ visibility fogging up on several mtn peaks off web cams SW NC. So will be snowing Waynesville, Bryson City etc here within next hour. Loved being in mtns waiting on snowstorm to roll in and watching the mtns disappear from top down as the snow level lowered.

Thought it was more accurate ratio, not the blanket 10:1, based on temp profiles but maybe it completely removes sleet. Or maybe sleet is being factored as snow at a lower ratio, I'm not completely sure but the soundings didn't seem to support 4" of snow. I'm thinking around 2 but we shall see, I'm no expert by any means lol

I think down here near RDU we get an initial thump of snow with a turnover to sleet for the rest of the night. I think you tend off the sleet for a much longer duration up there

Thank you for this! I mean the amount of moisture stretching back to Mexico and people are worried about Charlotte getting the shaft because Atlanta is getting good snow right now? Maybe this is just gonna be a big storm… for all of us… lol voice of reason thanks again

If you care, my house is in S Dekalb off 20 and Gresham Rd. by the Walmart.
Being in the Lee helps us keep the column below freezing all the way down. GSP switched me to an all snow forecast. So it's possible but 3" is probably more likely.
Replying to edit: I just realized the kuchera map was actually much better than the total snowfall map. So I don't know, seems to me it's picking up on higher ratios.... oh well like I said I'm no expert

Been coming down steady here for about an hour or so. I'd guess we have close to an inch or so. Temp down to 27.9, dew at 26.1. Not sure if we'll get the rates along I-20 but maybe enough to crack out 2-3"
