I know with the December storm the FV latched onto it about this far out and remained pretty consistent all the way up to the day of the storm.

Ya that's definitely worrisome, having the FV3/Euro seems like a strong combo but a long way to go, FV3 hasn't been great in lala land from what I can tell but it's seemingly locked in on things at times within 5-7 days.

The blood moon is absolutely beautiful. It’s a must see anyway fv3 seems to bullseye the midlands I believe

Yes I fixing to post here in a few. It does look a lot better. For the western area espically on weekend storm.

Correct, lately the FV3 has been locking on as far as 7 days out with general storm track and other models catch on 1-3 days later. I see no reason to discount it especially with the 12z Euro showing similar results.

FV3 is locked on at 120 hours out with the vort digging like it is. Very little run to run change for 3 runs now and when it locks in like this it’s usually right...

the old Eastern board used to have them when I posted them there. the sharp dig with just enough cold air as the layer went isothermal produced a significant widespread snow across the region.

Much better trends on the GEFS. The mean snowfall is greatly impacted by some members (#2,9,10 especially)

Passing right down the stovepipe too. Doesn’t get much better than that at 500mb.

This run could have been better from the FV3. I think this what happened. The energy tries to just close off in the gulf. If it wasn’t for that the precip and low would have been further north impacting a whole lot more people.

Would closing off not pull the LP and precip further north and west?
