Pingers and slight glazing in s chapel hill.
This looks fairly good, though.Ooooof, doink, failboat! Even the pros were stumped by this one!View attachment 162661
3K pushes the sleet line north at 9 but the snow line back south![]()
That doesn’t seem too far off from what happened.Ooooof, doink, failboat! Even the pros were stumped by this one!View attachment 162661
It could potentially be south of me again by 10. We’ll see.I do recall some of the modeling suggesting the snow line could claw back a little south towards the end of the storm but I’m not holding my breath.
SameLost the freezing rain and now pouring the sleet. looks like a couple of snowflakes mixing in.
Went out to check on the ZR progress and this reminded me to appreciate that crunching sound. Love itModerate snow again. Going to probably end up with a shade over 2".
Just went for a quick walk. There is nothing quite like walking in the snow. It's uniquely quiet, except for the unmistakable crunch with each footfall. And the way it sparkles under the streetlights is a wondrous site to behold.
Encouraging / surprising…must be rate driven. Seems like it’s hardly doing anything here in N Chapel Hill.Snow mixing back in here in Pittsboro
Yeah thinking we’ll end as sn/ip here in the wee hoursWouldn't be shocked to see the ptype zones shift slightly back SE over the next few hours as we get a little more jet driven and a little less ripping waa
hats off to NWS Blacksburg for calling the meso banding after 9pm. Sure enough it’s near Mount Airy and back building heavy snow along the escarpment. I really need Raleigh to pick up another 0.5” for the contest, it’s possible as the warm nose collapses from west to east. (Several 6” snow reports from Traphill west into Ashe County)
Fv3 is most excited but the hrrr/nams have hinted at it. At this point I'm probably shooting for that and giving up on the rest of the eveningYeah thinking we’ll end as sn/ip here in the wee hours
Moderate backside snow coming thru.
Still a good amount of precip back to our west as well, probably won’t end until what 3-4amFv3 is most excited but the hrrr/nams have hinted at it. At this point I'm probably shooting for that and giving up on the rest of the evening
I was thinking like 6 or 7 but that may be too slowStill a good amount of precip back to our west as well, probably won’t end until what 3-4am
Precip all done here except for a stray flurry. Solid event with the usual WAA driven p-type transition and a crop duster finish at the tail end.

Originally I was thinking that too but things have run a bit ahead of schedule todayI was thinking like 6 or 7 but that may be too slow
