27/24 and back to steady snow west of Winston but it doesn't look like it will last long. Have just over 2" on the ground with 0.1" ZR.

Still sn/ip mix, as others have noted rate driven. Heavier returns it's either 90% or all sn, lightens up and about 50/50
50/50 SN/IP in that heavier return here in Denver.

I’ll admit I was surprised by the zr this evening. It looked like the moisture was moving out and the continued warning for icing surprised me. Ended up with freezing rain all afternoon and then all evening. there are icicles about an inch and a half and a good glaze over everything. I didn’t go out with a ruler, but I looks like may .2ish or so. Hopefully it’s not enough to cause issues with the wind.

Edge of that band just made it to I-77! Definitely Moderate sleet/ But for sure some nice Size feathers too! Anyone see it building again back by Shelby ?

Trying to decide whether it is worth staying up for the magical band on the HRRR. Figures it’ll just be sleet, anyways. We have barely had any precip in the last hour.

Anyone got the current 850 temp map? Looking everywhere for it
Look for soundings in between 850 and 700 for the nose. It doesn't show up on 850.

Matches up! 75/25 Here in Mooresville SN to Sleet. Hopefully we get an hour or so to finish

Looking at the soundings from it, it looks like there’s a warm nose between 750-825mb for much of it, so sleet, basically. Maybe snow in 3 hours, but it’s borderline and probably won’t happen.

Good storm. Had about 5 inches. It’s compacted down now with the drizzle and temps just above freezing most the afternoon. Ready for the next one!

Ive never been in a storm an changed ptypes as much as tonight. Nothing even compares. It will frzng rn,go all sleet,like hailstone chunks coupke times. All snowed for about 10 mins,back to frzng rn,mix sleet.... seriously like every 5-10 mins it switches, stays all mixed. Past 2 hours have been crazy.

The precip was more spotty, fast-moving, showery than you normally see with a good gulf low with consistent overrunning precip on the front side and with a well-placed upper jet that encourages rising motion. This was a mess of a storm with a positive tilt trough meshing with a shearing out baja low, a strange one that ended up working for some

Which one of you submitted all these MPing reports
Been a long day but snow was beautiful to see. Had heavy snow then to real small flakes then back to heavy flakes. Finally sleet this evening then back to heavy snow. If snow had stayed heavy we would have easily got 8-12 inches. However being a contractor I am good with a smaller event for the first wintry even in three years.

Well we have a solid 2 inches here, had some mixing with light sleet and FZ even here in N Foothills
Might be some more mood flakes for North Georgia incoming
Just wanted to point out we should have already known four days ago on p-type maps from the GFS. I have attached two maps from the beginning of the event until now (end of event). Call it names, call it bad design. However, the American model was pretty close four days ago: Some areas were more accurate than others, but I think moving forward if we don't already know the models are pretty good in general just "not in my back yard" approach ha.

Is this current snowfall map accurate? Up to 17 inches in central Arkansas? And what’s with that hole in central SC? How’d that happen? Or is the map wrong? It’s from Wunderground

It is here, as well. Seems to be ZR and maybe a few pingers but not sure. I think I’m giving up the fight and going to bed. Don’t see switching over to snow for several hours at best, and not confident about then, either. But hope I’m wrong…
Gonna set an alarm? I think I may do a 2:30 or 3 just to make sure I don’t miss any flakes. Could be another 3 years I don’t wanna miss any I can get!

Best snow of the storm for me in the last 45 minutes, looks like the back edge is getting close. Still hear sleet so it’s mixing, but primarily snow.
Probably approaching .15 or maybe a little bit more of ZR. This thing can’t end quick enough

Pouring chunks of ice past 30 mins. Got 0 iccicles anywhere,but the limbs are caked in ice. Saw off floddlight beam taking dog. Its a heavy crunch everywhere out there tonight. 2 inches of compacted crunchy accum. Ill ride it out as long as its coming down this hard.
I am going to try setting a vibrate alarm on my watch and we’ll see if that’s good enough to wake me up, LOL. Don’t want to set a real alarm and wake up my lady or she’d be none to happy to be shocked awake in the middle of the night.
