Wintry 1/9-12 Winter Potential Great Dane or Yorkie

We won’t see the 14” totals like around Hot Springs Arkansas but some 8-10” is likely in a spot or two in the northern mtns and adjacent foothills with 4 to 6” more common in the cities and along the river beds.

I miss the ole' days when the backside would get you a good thump of

I think you’ll miss this to the South…. However , this is looking good!

How do feel about this band producing a quick burst of snow as it moves through the CLT metro as the bulk of the moisture (and the warm nose?) pushes east?
Just went through the band you speak of here in Landrum S.C. Moderate Sleet with a few flakes mixing in. I was also hoping for a changeover before the band moved through.

The northern half of that is probably snow. It went through here and was all snow. Farther south, it "looks" mixey on that image. And it sounds like it is, according to BLKeene.

Had some heavy returns pull in around 730 and precip changed to heavy IP for a brief period, and then we went into a lull, just very light dry dandruff for about 2 hours. Last hour a couple little bands rolled over getting some snow going off and on again.

We had about 2” around 730 when the sleet rolled
In.

We still have power here in the upstate so I am not trying to undo our misfortunes but I don’t see any precip taking our power away from this storm. Ready to digest and move forward

Radar shows we should be ending basically now but it’s steady as she goes with the ZR. Still sitting on 29 and only place left to go is down into the low 20’s tonight. I’ll go out and measure again in the morning but 2 1/2 hours ago I had 0.15” of ZR. Very easily could’ve be a qtr of inch of ice. Which I didn’t even think we would get any ZR the far north. Figured if it wasn’t snow it would be sleet and the models were overdoing the ZR like usual but here we are.
