Misc Winter 22-23 Whamby and Banter Thread Part 2

The argument was very on topic and pretty civil overall and the thread wasn’t derailing at all. Don’t see what the fuss is about.
I'm trying to explain but you are taking it personal for some reason. I never said it was off topic, I only said it derails the discussion when it turns into an argument and even explained it a little more detail in here, saying page after page. I didn't delete any post, didn't even say it had yet come to that but they have in the past, you know this, and all I was simply doing was asking that it not turn into that. You're using words and comments that weren't there this morning.

We all know that’s what you were really trying to say though. It’s obvious you and a few other mods + posters here have it out for me because I’m not always “Mr positive” & just look for any little thing I say or do and try to blow it up into something it’s not intended to be.

That's not it at all. It's pretty simple, actually. Pretty much everyone respects and acknowledges your expertise. The second part is what is bothersome. It's not debating meteorology. It's that you frequently treat others who have a different view with contempt and condescension. You don't need to lord your intelligence over everyone or beat someone, or everyone, over the head with the same point over and over and over and over. If they don't agree, just let it go.

All of those posts in the thread were 100% about meteorology, this is nonsense

You might have missed a few words in my post related to tone and civility and humility and repetition.

You have no place to be lecturing me about civility, tone, and humility, especially when you have to make an example out of any negative thing I say in a pattern or storm thread and mock it. Keep it mind it was mainly because of what you said several weeks ago that made me want to step away from this place permanently

I think the point he was going for was that your expertise is appreciated and your analytical skills are too, but you tend to go too far trying to "make a point" or beat a dead horse constantly. You can give your take but it shifts into more of an attempt to ram an idea into someone's head that they either don't understand or have something contradictory on any degree. If someone wants to wish for a storm no harm there, if you want to explain why it won't happen it just takes one or two messages to get a point across. Whether it's heeded or not shouldn't be something to debate or try to make someone understand who doesn't want to.

@ Webber --> So we (on this site) are a little more knowledgeable than the "normal" folks. Most "normal" people only hear the official weather forecast (which is usually realistic, and around here pessimistic). But we come on here to talk about the possibilities. Being in the southeast, we know the odds are always bad. Most of us even know that this system will probably not work out for many. But we still like to talk about what is possible. So basically we don't want you to be the meteorologist that talks to "normal" people. We want you to (of course) tell us the truth but also tell us what it would take to pull off a miracle.

Cool!

You missed it completely this morning, you are trying to make something out of nothing.... others have already responded politely, professionally and spot on, I can't improve upon what they said.
