Misc Winter 22-23 Whamby and Banter Thread Part 2

I was wondering how many of those warnings verified. Seems like it stayed just a degree or two too warm.

There seems to be a narrow band south of me that did and of course the mountains in NW Arkansas but otherwise yeah I think most people underperformed tbh. Temps were just killing us the entire event I definitely agree there

But seriously you can't make this stuff upFB_IMG_1674628535620.jpg

Dang, that sucks. Nothing worse than getting a complete shaft with a winter storm warning in your backyard.

You'd think with those rates and after dark you would have gotten something to stick at least. I didn't look at soundings out there, but I guess the boundary layer was a little too thick/warm to overcome.

What a feels like in the main thread

As I said the other day for those who didn't read it, it'd be nice if people posted a balance instead of just shooting everything positive people want to track down.

For those who continue to post exclusively why it isn't going to do [fill in the blank] it gets unenjoyable to read and discussion falls apart.

We got 2.78 in 30 mins this morning. Per local tv Met.
I mean I can remember a time where we could not buy a drop of rain so I don’t take this for granted. Sure I want some snow but I also don’t want a drought. We need to keep the SD drought maps at bay as long as we can.

This is why people who poo poo those of us who worry about soil temps and above freezing BL temps are simply wrong. It’s hampered storms here, too. With horrible conditions like that, you need consistent, heavy rates, and not every storm has that.

I guess maybe some people would prefer no discussion about anything other than how bad the pattern is. Maybe from now on, just find the maps with the most red over the SE and talk about how bad the pattern sucks 10 times a day and rack up the likes
I know a Guy on here that does that!!

Arkansas and western TN are going to get slammed with an ice storm next week according to the GEFS. Hate it for them. Honestly, from a normal person's perspective, Atlanta has some of the best weather in the world! Very few threats. We don't flood very often, never ices or snows, really, Tornadoes are sparse. Wind damage and sometimes high heat indexes are the only real threats. Most of the year is quite tolerable. The only terrible thing is the yellow pollen plaque every spring.

Maybe we can start a thread for that? I remember a while back when a Mod said that once a person "punts" on a topic, they will be removed from it. Maybe that is still applicable?
