Misc 2021-22 Fall/Winter Whamby Thread

With the the Euro/CMC amping up the late week storm already, this leaves plenty of room for this to trend in the wrong direction. If we don't see suppression on ether model by tomorrow, I'm preparing for more disappointment with inevitable west trend. Congrats TX-AL/TN and Mid Atlantic states?

If our best modeled snows verified we'd have at least one, probably multiple January 2000 repeats every winter

This winter is giving me 2014 vibes. Cold AF and plentiful chances. That was the first winter I started posting on weather sites (TW). Little did I know how spoiled we all were that winter with two major storms

Can't wait for a few hours of sleet next week before cold rain. We'll find a way to screw this up. Congratulations west of the Apps!
Not all folks west of the Apps have done well. Knoxville has failed miserably so far. They basically missed out of the previous storm (that rocked Nashville) and now look at this:

Tonight
A chance of rain, mainly between 9pm and 1am, then showers after 1am. Low around 34. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Sunday
Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 10am. High near 38. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Sunday Night
Rain and snow likely before 10pm, then a chance of snow between 10pm and 4am, then a slight chance of flurries after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
M.L.King Day
A slight chance of flurries before 10am, then a slight chance of snow between 10am and 1pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow after 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. West wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

They're surrounded by good forecast:

Is that the Tennessee Valley I'm seeing here in yellow? I can't think of what else would account for such a situation. ?

Well at least I got more than a flizzard this time ? biggest event so far it was really coming down for a bit there

I'm still waiting for a real snowstorm here though

Yep. They're sandwiched between the Cumberland Plateau and the Appalachians. I also think they've just had bad luck.

I dont want to be that guy but this look has so much potential to turn into a Miller B setup, all it takes is the TPV in SE Canada/the NE to lift off faster, and higher heights to squeeze in between it, and the system to dig even further SW. this go around looks very cold tho and the source region for the northern stream wave is even colder then the one tomorrow so it would probably be associated with a deep, cold CAD once again View attachment 106081
