We are due for an exceptional cold winter from beginning to the end. I will say that?
Doubt seriously we will ever see one them again… to much has changed since 70s 80sWe are due for an exceptional cold winter from beginning to the end. I will say that?
Aren’t most models clueless , no matter what it showsHow good is the CFS seasonal model. I know it typically does ok for the month ahead during the last few days of each month, but other than that it always seems pretty clueless
Even the 70s and 80s weren’t exceptionally cold from beginning to end ... 77 was severely cold for 1 month and that’s that for example . It’s been since the 30s since we had a winter have all 3 months avg highs above 60! We are severely overdueDoubt seriously we will ever see one them again… to much has changed since 70s 80s

It’s good news for severe storm weenies like 63storms, etc.Last week, the Nino 3.4 region anomaly cooled from -0.4 C to -0.9C. This isn’t what I wanted to see as one who would prefer the winter not be mild. That’s because moderate to strong La Niña’s have on average been the warmest category of ENSO during winter in the SE US going back to the late 1800s. So, this is good news for those who don’t want a cold winter, the number of which has appeared to increase here over the last year or so based on posts complaining about cold. I hope this winter will be one of the ones that buck that mild trend and at least come in near normal. But for now, the Vegas odds for mild have increased. I bet @Myfrotho704_ @Lickwx and @NorthDFWwx are happy, among others.
Me too lolIt’s good news for severe storm weenies like 63storms, etc.

Most of us don't want the cold that you get. Maybe a week or two of it but that's it. If we get a couple winter events (which is possible) we're good. I've had people ask me why I don't move to a place like N. Dakota. I tell them I like the cold/snow we (can) get, not the cold/snow N. Dakota gets. After last year winter up here in Montana you guys can have all the snow and cold. I don’t even want to see one flake fall in the sky and the temps need to stay above 50 degrees with clear skies
The cold in N Dakota would bother me far more than the snow they get. Most of us don't want the cold that you get. Maybe a week or two of it but that's it. Thought I put this but I was meaning this for snowflakes, it’s a dream to get a macro shot on a snowflake, need a snow setup in the 20s tho because wet snow won’t do well, more likely to get a shaped snowflake when it’s colder at the sfc and aloftNeed to get more into macro photography and silhouettes View attachment 90005View attachment 90006View attachment 90007View attachment 90009
Wow one northern winter broke you real quick! But trust me I get it. I've experienced northern plains and Rocky mtn cold myself. I can handle a NYC winter. And even Chicago because I like snow. But that out your way is just brutal and disrespectful. And the wind there makes it even worse. After last year winter up here in Montana you guys can have all the snow and cold. I don’t even want to see one flake fall in the sky and the temps need to stay above 50 degrees with clear skies
What were your totals for last winter?I’m going 40-52” this year! Lowest temp will be -26 degrees Fahrenheit! Giddy up! Somebody archive this! This is IMBY, and brought to you by Bojangles!
Don’t know exact, it was quite the above normal winter tho! Average is 35-40” for DBQ, t last year I know was over 60-65” all time snowiest was 77” I believe. Coldest low was -17, coldest high temp was -6 around Valentine’s Day.What were your totals for last winter?
