Always are, Phil. I talked to people today that were blase about it. The lack of certainty is what kills people...they don't get serious until it's too late. It's amazing what some wind can do. I'm reminded of all those people stuck out on the interstate in Atl in the deep winter because some wind froze down an inch or two of snow :)

Just take one look at those cloud tops surrounding the eye and how cold they are now getting as it closes in on Cuba... is Irma completing an erc or starting another one?
I guess the outer eyewall finally taking over and choking off the inner, looks like it's getting ready to be a huge eye once that constricts oh boy

That is about the stupidest map Ive ever seen. Judging by that map, it shows the same impact level for North GA as it does for Florida. Also in AL, it shows the impact level going from extreme to insignificant in just 30 miles or so.

Maybe deep is the wrong word the heat content is off the charts there which is what hurricanes fuel off of

Been a long week and in my head im thinking content=deep
 
I was just looking over the 12z Euro wind gusts data.

Yeah, I think it's a bit over done. I was just sharing that map, I'm not affiliated with it.
 
Hmm I'm just about to be right on every prediction I've made. First I said it will hit florida and then Apalachicola , then I said it will hit Cuba and Tampa. Haha

Of course I'm saying this in jest.
 
The next few hours will be interesting to see if it starts to gain some northward motion as it approaches the western part of the subtropical ridge. You would have to think a long east to west trip across Cuba would do some damage to the structure... maybe

I may actually get what I've wanted all along. No, not a track into NC because that's what I called for landfall early on, but instead a track right into my back yard. :)

One would think it would start to gain latitude soon but I've been thinking that all day....

and on a substantive note ... personal opinion only and I'm not taking issue with NHS, but it seems they are weakening her a bit too quickly

Probably won't get shredded but in the best if events the core could get disrupted a bit. I'm not sure it's very likely given how much is over water. Just hypothesizing
