Jordan Lake area is the big winner so far. No thunder with Round 1 but a bit of wind and some intense rainfall. Round two incoming now with some thunder.
Plethora amount of rain beautiful 
Might even have some flash flooding problems at this rate .. little bit of training going on 
Hodographs look better tomorrow been several mini supercells today already

The setup across NC with the sea breeze/coastal front interacting with the upper level flow is nice. I wouldn't be surprised if some areas picked up 3-6" today and tomorrow. The models don't do a great job picking up the small scale features, and it's usually the HRRR or other convective-scale models that pick it up within 12 hours of an event.

Tornado Warning for Duplin County, NC.
Totally agree .. models were quite under done with today’s heavy showers and thunderstorm .. I expect the next couple days to provide more than what models are showing .. getting another very heavy downpour now .. we’re racking up
Looks like RDU is already at 1.46 inches of rain for today.. and I have a feeling next hourly update will put us near 2 inches that’s what I would suspect our rain amounts have been today... thank you Mother Nature ??

Yep. This morning I saw the sea breeze moving inland from the SSE (Heading NW). If you check out the radar, the flow with low-topped thunderstorms off the coast are coming form the SSE while the inland convection is heading to the NE. The areas intersect precisely where the tornado is located. This happens in S. FL just west of the coastal metro areas when there's a SSE flow and upper level winds out of the SW, but the tornadoes are very weak.

Tornado still being reported on the ground with damage. If true and it has been down since the first report its been down for 30 minutes.
Second cell behind the first may need a warning soon.
Third downpour of the day .. I need a rain gauge at my place but alas it’s too temporary of a living arrangement for me to install one fully 
Hard to see how this doesn’t fire some stuff later back west 
Got .73" so far. Not as much as folks to the south of me, but still more than I was (pessimistically) expecting.

Wow HRRR has so many rounds of heavy showers and or thunderstorms starting soon really and lasting all day .. this is going to be fun

A lot of eastern nc and wake county has to be over the monthly rainfall average now and we aren’t even done! Looks like airport picked up. Lot more rain overnight . Epic!

Bet we got a inch in the last hr.....and thats the 4th or 5th round of thunder and lightning in the last 12 hrs lol.....looks to continue off and on all day.....the last several HRRR runs have 4-9" over east central NC for today lol and that is on top of the general 2-4" that have already fallen.....and while that 9-10" bulleye ( has 10.40" right over MBY lol ) is likely overdone some 6-8" totals seem likely.....

Highest I've found on radar estimates is 6-6.5 inches in eastern wilson area. That area scored big a week ago like that. Jesus! With more today we will be above avg not below for annual rainfall, and people were scared of drought!

Sorry but a bunch of heavy rain in wilson or at the airport doesn't mean the dry conditions are over. You should go be a TV met in Raleigh though you think just like them
