Does anyone have that site bookmarked that shows the temperatures at places such as Boone, Beech, Asheville, foothills? It’s a newer site and I’m having trouble finding it.

In all seriousness I don't think you have a problem with surface temps until around dark
Impressive warmup in Huntsville. Already above freezing. GEFS plumes were great this morning for my area, but I consider them totally unreliable.
Not like it matters much but something to watch I guess

Def something to watch. One thing that makes this system so much different then last weeks event that hit the Triad is how much closer this system is to affecting CLT and RAH. A few more ticks south with that colder, dryer air and it's game on. And like I said that snow pack is solid, with more expected tomorrow. Wedges are a hard to nail down and this one is no different.

Updated HREF ensemble suite. Everyone in that Red line is where I could see some ice forming but I would cut these totals at least south of I40 by 50%. Still a solid 0.1" - 0.25" in a lot of places.

My PWS is giving me a 21 degree DP currently--perfectly in line with the above.

The biggest difference between this system and all the others this year is that the mechanism is in place to keep funneling the cold air into the region.
I’m willing to bet for areas (like yours) freezing rain will last longer

The the observing manual recently changed the designation of graupel from GR to GS. GR is now used for hail. Observer must have missed the memo.

rain mix will dip a little farther south by daybreak, but do not

I dont know about there but it took Me two and half hours to drive 40 miles from tupelo ( Lee County) to aberdeen ( Monroe County)

Guys this looks like the real deal is about to unfold and I have started alerting family and friends of the possibilities and how serious this could be. Most of the ones that I've talked to in the last hour or so are shrugging it off as another nuisance system. Hopefully they'll make some preparations, forecast shows lows in the 20s afterwards for a few nights.

Full day of sun, clouds roll in preventing RC, its gonna take some work to get sfc down to freezing from the mid 40s. Triad will be in for some ice, but I have major doubts for Chatham and Wake counties. That feed better be fierce or its another 32.5 degree rain like last time.

Intersting... Do you know what they were calling for before this? since I'm in Chattanooga I try to follow their thought process especially for Jackson county.

That’s honestly not bad all things considered. If we just get 0.6-0.7 tenths of precip we should be able to keep accrual well under 0.5 which is really about all we can hope for at this point.
