Wintry King Kong Winter Storm Potential Feb 13th-16th

I don’t necessarily believe the ice storm on models next week. But the fact it’s inside 7 days should have everyone attention. Models today are crucial.

I’ll take sleet over freezing rain any day. Though! I’m not overly excited about next week.

Well I'd rather it be a snow storm, but I just don't see that happening in this type setup. This just looks like an ice storm setup to me.

For whatever it’s worth Chris justice is on board. I won’t be disappointed ICE is beautiful. I’d rather have snow to but ICE is better then rain

They all have it and the pattern has been a CAD overflow. Better get to believing.

Saw that much ice on the ECMWF and got scared, but soundings say otherwise, why can’t this turn into a snow event ? Smh View attachment 73022
If this storm signal stays consistent along with the strength of strong CAD, it wouldn’t shock me at all to see a more in the way of sleet and snow especially on the front end of this. Thinking back, it’s been kinda rare to see long duration freezing rain and temperatures in the low to mid 20s.... the super CAD event in January 2004 had a about a full day of light freezing drizzle with temperatures in the 20-25 range, but even then when the rate of precip picked up a bit it was mixed with sleet.

We have both globals on board for a major winter storm next week and ccx we are 6 days out. I'm anxious to see what the short range models are going to show, if they start showing the ice storm then we may be in big trouble.

Worrisome trends. The moderating cold trends are as present as the moderating SER trends. We and up in the low 50’s. It’s the story of the winter.

Something has got to give.
