I don't envy the NE weather, even when they are buried under 2' of snow. Yeah, we might have a 4-5 day period where we will require a light jacket but we won't need jeans again until Oct/Nov.

Yeah, you also got this signal into mid/late May, the cool down better be enjoyed by many when it arrives, GWO orbit into 8/1 and -AAM coming back, should at least begin to see split flow become the theme around mid May before any sort of ridge gets established here 8F5A3FAE-C220-4622-B0AD-5555D5AE6CD4.png26FA82A3-4420-43AF-A0E3-2E92FAA94EA8.pngA9A10077-7AFD-47D1-BA8D-E92E6D518550.gif

The 12Z GFS has for here on May 12th a low of 44 and a high of 67. Both of these are normals for Feb 25-28!! The 44 low would tie the record coldest while the 67 high would be a new record low high. Even with cold bias being figured in, the bottom line is that most of the period from late May 6 through May 14 is looking amazingly cool and comfortable for the SE US!

Would be an impressive 850 map during the winter as others have mentioned. Are we seeing the result of such a positive AO during the winter, and now during the spring that bottled up cold air is more able to go south? Just a theory.

Aside from the possible risk to crops, if somehow it snowed in July (which would never happen) I would be very happy. We have plenty of warm days, I don't need to have constant warmth for 7 months straight.

Don't take it personal.

Any map of extreme cold in May gets a red thumbs down from me. I don't discriminate. :p
If I took it personally, you would have received a scathing PM and a bunch of red knockers on your last 100 posts ... LOL ... I knew/know where you're coming from (and find it all good natured) but in this day and age I fee compelled to attempt a little public joviality where and when possible ... ;)

Heck I remember at Scout summer camp in Georgia near Covington in June 1970? We had a front come through and camp themomiter showed 39 one morning.. BRRRR

The Nam is really hinting at some pretty severe storms. Ne Georgia western upstate sc tomorrow. Maybe very isolated but severe

It would honestly just be nice if we have a average May with no extreme “cold” or heat (80s over 60s/50s), really do not like seeing near freezing temps around in the medium range

I'll be honest in saying bring on the chance for MBN, including possible record chill. Even just a BN period is nice in any month from my perspective, especially in the warmer months. The SE gets enough heat as it is. To top that off, my area has had all of 1 BN month in 2 years. BN is ridiculously overdue and we likely won't have much of it again anytime soon.
