As bad as it is now, could you imagine how bad it would've been if they didn't cancel the Basketball Tournaments or if Tampa didn't force Vince McMahon to move WrestleMania to WWE's training facility? The cancellation of sports saved a lot of lives imo, not anyway downplaying this AT ALL just thinking about how worse it would've been if sports didn't shut down.

The decision to not cancel Mardi Gras was sheer madness.

Yes, and the problem is the governor and N.O. mayor have been blaming the feds and Trump for not giving them the heads up. But given how much business revenue is generated for Mardi Gras, I have serious doubts they would have gone ahead and shut it down even if they had been told to. Or they would have complained about lost revenues and nobody caring for Louisiana culture or something.

Not entirely related to this post but when I saw that nurserys and garden centers were essential I face palmed hard.
Farmers Market as well.... ever seen people pick up produce, squeeze it, sniff it and then put it back? Yep, very sanitary

To be fair Google said Americans are searching how to plant their own food at record levels never seen before. So some of this is indeed essential.

Lowe’s is working to bypass the health department by placing gardening products in the parking lots for people to browse from their cars. And To reduce parking spots and to spread out people.

Yeah the 80 year old lady walking out with 7 tiger lilies and a bag of potting soil isn't really looking to grow fresh oregano

The administration declared a national Public Health Emergency on Jan. 31st, and by the time Mardi Gras began on Feb. 25th the pandemic was leading the news headlines worldwide - just how much of a "heads up" did they want? ?‍♂️

As part of the order then: “While this virus poses a serious public health threat, the risk to the American public remains low at this time, and we are working to keep this risk low,”

They definitely didn't enact or encourage any measures to help at the time. They said the risk remains low.

not directed at you only. But do people realize Mardi Gras is not just one day? It’s a multi week celebration. When it first started the virus was being downplayed by some of our leaders.

I would suggest everyone check out their local farmers market. Not only is it helping the local economy but I know it's cleaner and safer than the store. I'm the only one that touches your food.
Yeah I wasn't knocking the farmers market at all.... a vegetable farm, working the farmers market with my parents is what, not only put me through college, but helped sustain my young family the first 10 years of marriage (with 2 kids). I just think nowadays might have to put a "If you touch it you buy it" sign up there! Lol And I'm with you, support the Farmer's Market, support farmers without them many would not eat.

The wording in this is hardly alarming though I think that’s the idea they’re trying to get at here. It’s at that point the federal government (specifically the trump admin) should have issued a nationwide lockdown, and forced states to do the same. Instead, people (esp conservatives) were worried about how much it was being overblown by the media.

Smh. ?

My friend has had trouble finding basic garden seeds here locally.

So you mean to tell me that Democrat mayors and governors aren't intellectually capable of making their own decisions (based on evidence widely available in the public domain) without prodding from Trump?

Actually, you might have a point there...

Well heres a thought......Maybe Trumps words arent the gospel
For NC Gov said in a press conf peak for our state would be April 20. Based off computer modeling, which as you know changes alot . The models they use dont take in any mitigation factors I beleive, so dates, various metrics do change alot.
