Wintry February 19-21, 2020 Winter Storm

0.5" precip line shifting towards I85. Looking at the radar it seem that will be tough..IMO. Hopefully it's right.

I think we're going to be depended on the coastal low development. We want it to get going quicker and closer to the coast. You can see the orientation of the precip starts to become SW to NE and not west to east as it is now.

For central NC folks...it looks like heaviest precip sould be between 5pm and 11pm.

ALSO wrt that pocket of no precip shown on the HRRR that bird wiener keeps bringing up.. if u continue the HRRR run it fills in quite nicely shortly after ... this thing is looking like it’s ramping up fast

I’m actually feeling really good about things here in Wingate. The High Res models this morning keep wanting to have a little lollipop over this part of the county. I wonder if it’s catching on to a possible deform band tonight

Pretty good timing with this coming in mostly just after dark. We'd lose a lot of accumulation to melting from sun angle/soil temps/above freezing 2m temps with the snowfall during the day. It would be one thing if temps were in the mid 20s, but with near freezing temps the sun angle would cause more harm.

Same here in Chastain Park area. ITP really seems to be in a cold pocket. No way we hit mid 40s barring some unforeseen WAA.
We’re at 39 in Social Circle. High earlier this mng was 41. You can feel/hear the wedge. outside. Maybe it overperforms wsnow cover beginning ito our East.

It seems like this is a little slower than model progs so wonder if that's helping to shift things south.

Finally started legit snowing here for the last 20 min, but the rates haven't been consistent at all. Nothing sticking anywhere and not heavy enough to overcome the wet and warm ground :(
