The Flounder in Spartanburg is all we’ve got left! They actually opened a fish camp in gray court a year or two ago that is pretty damn good. Out in the country
 
I guess it’s not a good sign when the winter weather 23/24 discussion thread hasn’t been used in almost a week.

Was it that one in a little building out in the middle of nowhere? I think I tried it once or twice before I left! Been to the flounder once, it wasn’t horrible!

I consider Atlanta my ATM. I’m blessed enough to have a company fuel card and truck so that makes all the difference. We are slightly closer to Chattanooga but equally inconvenient for commuters to either city. Also just far enough from the mountains so we don’t have vacation homes. Everything is cattle farms and carpet. We have had to fight the big distribution centers trying to take farmland but so far the county has struck them all down.

We want to end up somewhere in NE TN closer to retirement.

I like it. I’m eyeing somewhere in the Newland, Greenville, Erwin, and Unicoi area to get more rural.
I do have some beef with Sullivan county though. They gave me a photo speeding ticket before the football game at Bristol a few years ago. There was so much traffic there was no way I was going 11 over like they said.

I love North Alabama. Huntsville has a good and almost recession proof economy and mountains in every direction. My dad is from Fort Payne so we try to go visit as much as we can.
 
Alabama has good places to live and some of the nicest, prosperous towns around Birmingham. Huntsville is nice because It's new. The coast of Alabama rivals the coast of Florida with less development. Most people that talk about Alabama have never been there.

I dont like when people trash Alabama. It has a lot of problems but there's a lot of good qualities too. No state is perfect.

You don't have to defend Alabama to someone that lives in dreadful Iowa. I have lived in the Midwest and was raised in Alabama. Give me the south in general but Alabama hands down. It smells like mildew and pigs ass in Iowa.

Not to get political but that reeks of what happened in Rockingham County. Someone important had to benefit from that.

I agree with that. There’s parts of it that meet the stereotype but Birmingham, The Shoals, Huntsville all buck it. I assume Mobile does as well but I’ve never been there.
 
I'm debating on going to a bar/club tonight, I'm usually not deterred by the cold but possible teens combined with the fact that I tend to sweat a lot in clubs makes me apprehensive.
 
Lifelong resident, many still view Alabama from the 60’s and that perception is hard to change. State government is ineffective and corrupt. Lots of nice areas that are growing just not the entire state. Crime and drugs are an issue in both the larger cities and many rural areas. Most are good friendly hard working folks. Most people that move here from other areas of the country are pleasantly surprised in a good way.

Because warmer is within the range of normalcy. The same reason a high in July of 75 is more likely to happen then a high of 110.

I lived in Mobile for a year as well as Andalusia, did not care for Mobile (too muggy) and Andalusia too small. I have heard good things about Huntsville though.

I don’t know who has or who hasn’t flip flopped this winter. What I do know is that we will all be able to wear flip flops in 5 days.
