From someone visiting N Myrtle Beach, he said this at ~1AM, it’s gotten quite stormy there (consistent with the radar):

“Hello everyone, I normally post on the New England forum however I am in North Myrtle Beach and the weather has quickly deteriorated to heavy squalls and the wind has increased considerably in the last 30 minutes from an estimated 10 to 15 miles an hour to 20 to 25 with a couple of gusts that have been 40mph at least, I don’t have an anemometer however I think that is a pretty close estimate.”

Carolina reported a sustained wind of 47 mph (76 km/h) gusting to
56 mph (90 km/h).

data is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).

Me and the dog in my avatar just took a ride to run a few errands and it does feel good outside compared to the typical July day. I ran into a light shower but nothing of any consequence. I'll be on the eastern side of what was the center of Chantal so there's the always the chance a weak tornado could spin up and I'm expecting some heavier rains and a few wind gusts to 30 MPH and above later in the day. Chantal seems to be a well behaved tropical storm for everyone so far.

Energetic is the word I’d use to describe it coming through this morning. Wind and rain actually woke me up shortly after 5am. We picked up 3.5” on the dot. Even with a minimal storm it’s such a different feel to a strengthening system compared to one falling apart coming onshore.

That eastern band may really take off over the next couple of hours. Lots if areas along and E of US1 are really starting to realize some instability.

Wouldn't be shocked if we had a tor on the ground soon in any of those 3 couplets between Lillington and sanford
