Misc Sports Thread

Georgia survives. Whew.

I think at this point, it's clear the Oregon/South Carolina games were a combo of Georgia knowing Nix/Lanning's tendencies (and Oregon will likely turn out to be at least pretty decent anyway despite the showing they had in the first game) and South Carolina being trash.

Could be some potential issues down the road.

Back when some of the racers started their careers as real bootleggers. Sundays growing up was my grandfather complaining that they only added restrictor plates because Bill Elliott was winning everything. He’s get mad and then someone would have to get on the roof so we could turn the antenna to pick up the Falcons on Chattanooga TV since they blacked out the Atlanta market.

Whole season is done. You can't be successful with an offense like this. Baker looks like Jimmy Clausen out there.
 
I know the Panthers are the local team and it's fun to have a local team. And I know we're supposed to pull for the local team. But I don't see how anybody can really like the Panthers. They are absolutely terrible, year in and year out. The management is terrible and the coaching is terrible and the talent isn't very good as a unit. It's kind of like NC State. They are never ever going to be anything more than a C to B program in either football or basketball. So a new person coming here, I would hope they would save themselves some pain and pull for App State or somebody good. I went there so it's kind of a different story. But I don't see why anybody would really like the Panthers. They are just no fun to watch, outside of that one season they had several years ago.

Been a Panthers fan from day one, I'm sick of losing, sick of horrible management, coaching, drafting, etc etc but they're my team. Win or lose.

Eh they were actually on and off good through 2017. These last 5 years have been brutal though.

Who did you like before the Panthers and why did you quit liking them to pull for the Panthers? I don't mean anything by asking that. Just curious. I have always been a Redskins fan since I was little. Stayed that way when the Panthers were born.

As a panthers fan since early 2000s there is one thing I can proudly say about the panthers - at least we aren't the redskin commanders.

I hate the Redskins and the cowboys, not that I need to explain myself ? but I was a dolphins fan before the Panthers. My dad was a huge Don Shula guy, so was I and he retired, Marino retired all about the time the Panthers came on the scene so easy transition.

Yeah you don't have to explain yourself. But I appreciate the response. I was just curious because I didn't have a reason to switch teams personally. I always liked Marino.
 
Game over. Braves just finished sweeping the Mets to bring their magic number down to 1.
As of now, they have a 2-game lead in the division plus the tiebreaker with 3 games to go. Just need either 1 win out of 3 against the Marlins, OR, 1 Mets loss out of 3 against the Nationals to officially win the division and get a 1st round bye for the playoffs. :)
 
Dodgers finish with 111 wins, most in NL history and 4th most in MLB history. Unfortunately as much as it pains me to say it, Braves will repeat. Dodgers lost both series to Mets and Braves, pitching questionable at times and no closer at all. West is weak and they dominate it, hope I'm wrong and probably only one here who hopes I'm wrong lol

Dodgers will go undefeated in the playoffs and win every game by 12 runs. Congratulations Met. The Braves will be lucky to win 2 games.

Advantage LA if this series occurs this time. Braves can take LA but starting the series in Los Angeles is very much unfavorable for the Braves based off history (Braves play LA just fine at home, not so much on the road).

It might not occur though. I hate possibly playing St Louis because they feel very team of destiny-ish with Pujols/Yadi/Waino’s last season.

I will say home field advantage throughout is a plus for LA, they're horrible when they have to travel east.

My padres put a stomping on Mad Max and the Mets! That was absolutely shocking that the pads cranked 4 bombs off of him with Soto and manny getting 1 hit combined. Machado with the homer but that was in garbage time. Its going to be tough vs Degrom tonight in cool weather but hopefully the pads can end it tonight. Unfortunately even if they do win the dodgers will be waiting for them and they have absolutely owned the pads for the last year. Braves having pretty much the same amount of wins last season as the padres this season gives me a little hope though. If they don’t make it I’ll be pulling for the Braves to end the dodgers season agin!
