Misc Sports Thread

Earliest I've ever mailed it in for a Panther's season... except the Jimmy Clausen season. 3 win max is my guess. Hope I'm wrong. Doubt Rhule makes it past week 6.

Yes they are. I agree. Long way to go but things are looking up on all sides of the ball. Finally something to look forward to being a Duke football fan. One game at a time.
 
Those Heels went from a hope to win game against ND to a must win. I have to think ND is better than their record.
 
UNC football has no defense again. Hasn't improved at all since Mack Brown came back.

That win by App State last Saturday was crazy.

Panthers suck and need a new coaching staff. I don't know how well the new owner is going to turn out.
 
So, is Georgia the new Alabama? Feels like Kirby is in his prime and saban is hanging onto coattails. Although every time someone says saban is on his way out he produces the best saban team yet the next season lol.
 
This Clemson and Wake Forest game is fun.

I still don't get how schools like Wake, Kentucky, and Arkansas can have better football programs right now than UNC. Only thing I can think of is coaching.
 
Those games are a long way away but from what I was hearing and reading with the game today (didn't watch it), Georgia might have issues with Tennessee (if they win today, which they should I feel, they have a good shot at 10-2 as it is already to me) and Mississippi State.

It also might just be a motivation issue. There's been a big gap with the way Georgia has played vs power 5 opponents vs FCS Samford and Go5 Kent State.
 
Carolina's defense sucks. Hasn't improved at all under Mack. The offense has to be great every game for them to have a chance at winning.

It is becoming harder and harder for me to justify, mentally, being a football fan. I’m no doctor but from what I’ve read he likely has a grade two concussion and had a seizure on the field.

My absolute gut feeling is he had at least an undiagnosed concussion on Sunday. A back injury doesn’t make you woozy like he was.

This new nascar next gen so called race car is a total failure in my opinion. Drivers getting concussions in very minor incidents and having to sit out. Can't keep the wheels on with the 1 lug nut on the pit stops. If you do you keep your wheels on eventually you blow a tire one week or the next or soon after. Horrible looking 18" inch street racing looking wheels instead of the 15" inch steel 5 lug racing wheel. Car numbers placement look horrible right behind the front tire. Stupid rear diffuser. You bottom out or go in the grass you destroy the whole bottom of the car. Stupid independent rear suspension toe links and control arms are junk. Only the track bar mounts would break once in a blue moon from human error on the old car but if you just bump the wall you bend the toe links or if you hit the wall decent you completely snap the control arms and have to repair them in 6 mins oh now they give you 10 min on the stupid crash clock that im not a fan of either to put back together a crumpled pos ready for the scrap heap you couldn't fix in a week but will give 10 mins now in the playoffs. What are we doing here nascar. But the new generation of fans love this car. It's 2022 and we just love the way this car looks. We don't care what it does on the track or how it races. We just love it cause it looks so cool. Well you got your car. You got it. Nascar built it for you. Nascar built a non race car for you and you expect race car drivers to turn it into a race car. Not going to happen. Going to get a lot worse with this car. Hopefully no one gets seriously injured or worse. This car has no crush crumple zone to slow the impacts on the driver especially at the rear of the car like the older generation of cars had. That's why so many concussions here lately with Busch and Bowman. This car needs to go straight to the ---- can and start over with anything but this crap. Watch nascar roll this same car out next year with no changes. Just sad to see what this sport is putting on the race track each week and I see no end to it. Rant over.

Definitely a seizure, my wife has waking up "seizures" on occasion and her fingers do what tua did.

Things like what happened last night will bring changes in things. Cause that's pretty dang serious, he needs to sit out for the rest of the season or something.

Same here. I've had a friend with seizures and as soon as I saw his fingers I realized what it was. I'll be shocked if he comes back this year.
 
Probably unpopular opinion but it disgusts me how many times sports channels keep showing the aftermath of the tua hit, it's incredibly disgraceful to show it as a hit on the "head". Good grief my wife was afraid for me to see her when she had her wakeup seizure because it's a hard thing for people that have seizure to swallow. It's not a lighthearted thing. My wife has gashed her head from a seizure and has had 3 broken arms before they figured out she was having them waking up when she was a child.

Okay if you disagree with me but it absolutely disgusts me
 
Miami already claiming this is only a "simple concussion" they won't learn until someone makes them learn. In this case hopefully that happens quickly. I mean this is all supposed to be for fun, nobody wants to see that.

I stopped watching NASCAR years ago when owners started assembling race teams and when it started taking races away from the traditional tracks. Now we have playoffs and all of these rule changes. Give me the days when it was driver vs driver and car vs car and may the best man win. The team concept has taken all of the competition out of racing.

I agree. I started watching Nascar in 1993. Never should of left Wilkesboro and Rockingham. I loved those tracks. Should still be on the schedule. I've never been a fan of the playoffs. Hate it. Your points should count from Daytona to the last race of the season. I'm no fan of the crash clock either. What a joke. You should be able to go to the garage after a crash or mechanic failure and repair your car at all cost like they always have been able to do. Change everything but the engine. Nascar has been swirling around in the crapper since they came out with that cot in 2007. It's been all down here from there and this new pos car takes the cake, and also there getting ready to go electric.

I only watch when they are at a traditional track these days.

I honestly don't want to see him close games in the playoffs. If we could get Strider back, I say make him our closer (for the post season). The Braves almost have to sweep the series. If they end up tied at the end of the season, the Mets win the division.
