GSP Airport area Jeez. They have 4.82 for the whole summer since June 1st and just got split again. That has to be one of the driest spots in the Carolina's right now. Move over @JHS there is a new drought king in town!

Decided to retire the Brick username and use something different that I use on other online forums. Think of it as Robert Downey Jr coming back to play Doctor Doom.

In other news, Hold onto your butts!

Looks like a derecho is coming to MO, IL, KY, TN, GA, AL, and SC/NC.

It's rained so much lately that it's flushed the ants out of their ant mounds, and they've probably been crawling up the pipes to the bathroom sink.

I’d be excited beyond words. Window seats? I always prefer a window to have the best view. Going to be flying for first time in 10 years in Aug. Longest no fly stretch for me since I was a kid. Flew for 1st time at age 15. I still remember how excited I was! Flew SAV to La Guardia rd trip.
Window seat Absolutely the best! Not gonna lie when our trip is over I want to go somewhere again just to fly lol

Yeah, GSP just hasn't been in the path for many of these pop ups the past couple of months. GMU has had significantly more rain than GSP and I think they are only about 8 miles apart. I also noticed that GMU's highest temp this summer is 98, whereas GSP reached 100 twice, and GMU is typically a degree or two hotter due to heat isand effect. This definitely lends some credence to the idea that GSP pretty much has to be in drought or at least abnormally dry status to reach 100. Had it had the same rain pattern as GMU is likely would not have reached that temp at all.

Even with the cabin pressurized?

Does blood oxygen saturation typically drop at high altitudes even with a pressurized cabin? Do the %s on a pulse oximeter drop? Have you ever checked yours?

It has to be around normal because the body can’t live at 30k normally, so the cabin has to be kept at normal oxygen levels. I’ll take my pulse ox next time I fly and validate one way or the other. I can confirm it drops progressively up to around 13k, which is the highest I’ve been on ground level numerous times.

You did it right. Window seat is always the best choice. Earlier this year, I got to see Joshua Tree National Park on approach to LAX

I absolutely hate flying. I have to do it for work but not frequently enough to get flyer benefits. Before 9/11, flying was much better. Now, it's delays, extra charges, no good snacks on the plane, and not enough room for tall people. In fact, I don't even know if Mackerel Sky would fit.

There's something about having to fly for work that makes it extra terrible.

Its like the greyhound bus station now, hate it tbh. Whole expierence.
First flight I took in early 80s as a young lad, it was a privelage. Put wings on you, your folks would make you get all cleaned up like Sunday Morning. Food, drink on board. And Room. Heck in the 90s, I'd fly roundtrip to Orlando from GSO, same day on Airtram for 90 bucks.Plenty of space, empty seats. Never lost my luggage.

Apparently Raleigh's not the only defective temperature gauge. I'm in Butler Alabama today which is near Meridian Mississippi and it's telling me this....Screenshot_20240801-122929_Live5Weather.jpg

I even see some low 80s dewpoints in South Georgia and actually a few locations in Northwest Georgia also.
Its oppressive, but I'll take this over drought any day.
