Pattern Scorchtember

They don't make them like they used to. Here's to the first real fall like front of the year and maybe and end to the 90s

ATL can probably eek out another 3 or 4 days of 90°. Last year some of our hottest days were late into September.

And so It begins. The beginning of temperature anomaly and watching and complaining about how it's unseasonably warm. Though I hope I'm wrong

Cool guy. Very intelligent. Led the way in meteorological discovery.

certainly feels like a September morning for a lot of the SE this morning. Perfect for College football.

Ay Wilkes has actually been putting in some work to the tropical thread tho, he definitely ain’t no dodo when he doesn’t want to be

I ended up going out to walk in the rain for at least 15 minutes and based on how it looked I'll be surprised if the total from the rain showers today isn't .5"-1". And I knew that rain was "possible" but I didn't think it'd be like the mod-heavy rain I was out in.

This will work

Wound up picking up 1.5" last night. Honestly...1.2" more than I thought was going to happen if it rained at all.

I wish that how it felt last night was a sign of things to come. But noooo.

The good news is, we're starting to get frontal passages about once per week, but, about all they're going to do is drop our highs into the mid-upper 80s for a day or two, and lows in the lower 60s. We're going to have to wait awhile for a real fall front. It's not a lot, but better than sitting in the mid to upper 90s for weeks.

Looks like Dorian is gonna bring me a cloudy, relatively cooler, and breezy day! I'll take it.

Don't count on it. It will not cloud up this far west. Big story here will be drought. Our drought will make national headlines by Christmas.

We solidly have mid 90’s for at least the next week ahead. Now if you consider upper 60’s overnight an improvement from lower 70’s then yes that’s “the good news”.

Also it seems that this has been the summer of northwest flow and we have several of these long stretches of heat with no rain to speak of. I suppose if this continues to have staying power it will eventually translate to warm, dry fall days but comfortably cool nights.

I'm reading through an old winter storm thread just for kicks... making me miss tracking hour 268 fantasy snows

Get use to it. Think we headed toward a lanina flavored winter. Speaking of being dry.

I'm glad we'll get some high clouds and a few showers from Dorian, along with a couple of wind gusts here in the Raleigh area. It will be nice to feel like Fall for a day or two!

Something changed around the start of the 2010s. From 2000-2009 we had a run of nice septembers minus 07, since 2010 we have had like 1

I remember back in 2011 we had a couple dreary days in September that struggled to break 60. I'm hoping for that again!

I'm starting to think that Dorian is dry here

I think we pick up a little rain, along with some breezy conditions. But I don't think we get anything major in this area. There's nothing really to bring the coc inland at all. What's most interesting to me is whether or not the beaches avoid hurricane force wind gusts.
