I missed it earlier but OKC got NAM'ed tomorrow 🤣

Ironically one of the TV stations is having their public expo tomorrow as well (they all come to the mall and sign autographs) wouldn't that be fun. Just have it outside 🤣

My mothers best friends son (I know) just had to evacuate in Norman due to a fire. Sounds bad.

This is wild to see. When was the last time there were dust storms this widespread? I've seen localized ones in west TX/OK but can't remember something like this. The smoke getting pulled up from ag burning in Mexico riding the seabreeze is visible too.

Someone said it happened here in 2011-2012 but yeah I definitely haven't seen it more recent than that and I don't even know if it was that widespread then

2011 and 2012 were also extremely hot dry summers

I think that's the other issue I'm having... It's March 14th and this is happening

A few years back I read about farmers pulling out shelter belts in the plains and can't help but think if this kind of thing will happen more often now. Though I think those were in Kansas/Nebraska so wouldn't apply here. The "black" dust storms of the Dust Bowl came from up there.

I mean if there's any good news usually we get better moisture towards May and even June once the severe weather setups shift away from Dixie but yeah something is gonna have to change before summer. This is not sustainable

Heck we had an inch of rain last week it hasn't even been THAT dry up here

Down in South Texas is way worse

Over 130 wildfires statewide! A town 25 miles west of here nearly burned to the ground last night

Tulsa also set a record for the largest non thunderstorm wind gust
