Mike Morgan does like to hype but on the other hand Tulsa does have a small chance of "major winter storm" impacts already which is pretty interesting remember even a low end winter storm is 4 inches heresmall1 (10).png

Mike is still going at it. I will say that there could be a high ceiling for this event, especially in NE OK. However, there will definitely still be shifts to come.

Oh I definitely think 4-8 could be conservative IF everything lines up

Still 4 days out so yeah I'm sure there will be ups and downs

This is likely a very aggressive comparison, but I would be curious to see how the setup for this system compares to second snowstorm in Feb. 2011. I dont know anything more about that system other than it absolutely raked a localized region in NE OK and NW AR with near 2 feet. I dont think this will be anything on the level of that one, but at least in terms of where the heaviest snow could fall with this upcoming system there may be some level of comparison. Also, a massive blast of cold air followed it as well.

Yeah and Oklahoma set the state cold record after that storm too that I don't think even 2021 broke

There was a second smaller wave the following week that actually put them over the top

But yeah Tulsa had 14 inches then. It is kind of the same area as of now up into Missouri

Man if we're really that cold I'd be worried about drying out quickly 🤣

December 22 January last year. There wasn't much snow... In both cases it only snowed for a couple hours and the better snow was east of here

And 4 days before January last year we were supposed to get 10 inches too

I remember during the first big storm, during February 2021, my area was hovering around 0 for a majority of the storm, so it can happen at these kind of temperatures. Also, this should make the snow ratios be better than the normal 10/1 ratio.

Yeah I mean there was 21 that worked out but I'm still gonna be a little skiddish

Honestly after the surprise 6 inches in January I'm not sure how much I'm really hyped about this anyway 🤣 the cold is gonna be so brutal. That was the best part about January it wasn't remotely cold at all a departure from our usual storms

Well not everyone is onboard the hype train here... I watched a different OKC met earlier and the national blend of models which he was hugging only had an inch or two of snow which would be more like how Christmas 22 or January last year was where the cold was more overwhelming

Long way to go still. Although TWC hasn't budged still with 4-6 inches showing up

Also I'm having a question about tomorrow evening we may have a quick shot at a dusting to an inch around sunset. I guess that will be another point if we overperform there(we've yet to underperform on a threat this winter)

Will be interesting to see what happens in a few hours. I suspect that the main band may end up to my north, but we will see what happens.

Also as a side note Winter Storm Watches just went up for parts of KS and MO for the next system. Id expect parts of NE OK to get one as well, perhaps later today, or tomorrow morning.
