Pattern Outside of the SE thread

After “cooling” back down to 115 yesterday, Las Vegas was back up to a high of 119 today, one away from Sunday’s all-time record high. Before Sunday, the all-time record high was 117.

Las Vegas was 117 at 3PM PDT. They’re going to be very close to 119-120 again. What an amazing heatwave!

Edit: They ended up at “only” 118. So, they’ve had 120, 119, and 118 during 3 of last 4 days. Before 2024, they hadn’t recorded above 117!

Vegas hit 118 today, another record. It has on 4 of the last 5 days hit 118-120, all of which are hotter than the 117 record hottest that existed before this summer.

My wife was in Vegas three weeks ago when the hottest temperature maxed out at around 110 degrees. Her timing was good since I know she doesn't tolerate heat very well. The Western US has been nothing short of an oven this year.

I hope the west coast ridge keeps up right through winter! Even if it does, there will be a two week period where they get 300% of normal snowfall for the entire season!

Got 1 1/2” of rain! Now cool and dry for next 7+ days. Non event at my place! Maybe 40 mph gusts

Finally a pattern change for the Midwest. Some welcomed rain on the way finally. We will manage to score some September temps in time for October.

Aaaaand yet another area receiving record snowfall. How about giving us a turn!

Time to get this thread a little more active!

Thoughts on an epic Tuesday - could see some records fall. Mid to upper 80’s in the upper Midwest!

It's hard to believe November is on Friday honestly. What an awful stretch it's been since mid September with almost no rain

I wish I knew winter was gonna be better this year but frankly I just don't believe it will be... It's crazy that moving here has done this to me but watching it snow way more 30 miles away two years in a row has driven me to the edge tbh

I mean yes I'm going to Breckenridge in December but I really regret it's even gotten to this point

We pretty much pray and hope for a week or two of cold and moisture to give us our best chances. My average snow is only 5in

We average 9... I mean we did it in one storm in February 2022 but ever since yikes. Hasn't snowed more than 3 hours since and both winters have had a setup where we're 1 degree too warm and you could drive 20 miles away and see way more snow.....so yeah that was the worst

You would think things would flip this winter but a lot of stuff hasn't gone like expected this year

I'm surprised you didn't cash in back in mid January.

We were supposed to for days(3 days before two different meteorologists said 10 inches possible) and then all the energy was east of us and we barely had an inch and nothing else was even that good... February had another snow hole where it was 1 degree too warm

We haven't had a good trend since probably February 2022 everything the last two winters poof

Hopefully we all get some winter weather this winter instead of having to travel to see it.

I predict a good 4-5” snow here before Thanksgiving! ⛄

That is a bold prediction. The window is looking tight for that, based on the ensembles. I’m predicting Chicago gets its latest first freeze on record…after Nov 24th!!
