If nothing else, at least we are beginning to rack up fantasy snow.

I am not on board by any means, and I've barely looked at anything, but don't let those ULL systems fool you. It fooled us all around here back in 2014. They can pack a punch.
Several nice little members this GEFS run:

What ? Even parts of GA saw a foot of snow in Dec 2017 and you haven't seen 1/2" ? I have seen more than 1/2" in Dec several times including 1997, 2000, 2010, 2017.Ive lived in south Charlotte from 1995-2001, 2012-2020. Don't think I've ever seen half an inch of snow in December. I've surrendered until January already
Wiffed completely in 2017. Wasn't here in 2010. Memory could be off in 90s, but nothing I rememberWhat ? Even parts of GA saw a foot of snow in Dec 2017 and you haven't seen 1/2" ? I have seen more than 1/2" in Dec several times including 1997, 2000, 2010, 2017.
I remember this one. Ended as big slow falling fatties. Feel like we had a couple of rain to snow events that winterLooks like I was wrong. Had this one inch monster in 97. Side note, after looking at Webb's maps, the 90s sucked.

December 2000 was a very snowy month in parts of the South. You don't remember getting any snow then ? I remember watching the Independence Bowl that year in Shreveport and the snow was pouring down.Looks like I was wrong. Had this one inch monster in 97. We had a couple inches in GA from that storm. The rest of winter was extremely wet and mild.I remember this one. Ended as big slow falling fatties. Feel like we had a couple of rain to snow events that winter

That is what of my favorite winter periods of al time. Got a dusting in November and another in early December. Then 3.5 mid month with an inch of sleet a few days later. I was sledding for a solid 3 weeks down the side yard and then more on New Years.December 2000 was a very snowy month in parts of the South. You don't remember getting any snow then ? Highs in the teens in GA in Feb. A freak snow in my town that produced 4" out of nowhere in Mid Feb and then snow on the first day of spring. Were you even alive yet that winter ?1995-96 was the best overall winter from the 1990s imo.
I think some areas north of Atlanta still had snow on the ground Christmas DayThat is what of my favorite winter periods of al time. Got a dusting in November and another in early December. 95/96 early Jan storm was my favorite all time storm. Sleet fell for 14 hours straight, for a total ~6". That definitely turned to glacier especial after the freezing rain event a week later.I remember it pouring sleet for a while at one point. It was cold but no way to tell with no smart phones then. That’s when the glacier formed that took weeks to melt.

We did have that December storm.I think December might give us a surprise.
Growing up in Concord, early to mid January was probably the most fun time to be a winter weather fan in the Charlotte metro area. The first weekend of the month of course was the Blizzard of ‘96 and I had an inch of snow as it started on Saturday afternoon before changing to freezing rain and freezing drizzle early in the evening.... I went to bed fully expecting to lose power during the night and wake up the next morning to everything having a thick layer of ice on it, but when I woke up on Sunday morning it was 19 degrees with heavy sleet and it had piled up to about 3 inches on top of the thin glaze and inch of snow under it. The sleet turned back to snow by late morning and we had another 3 inches that afternoon and evening. School was closed the entire next week and there was another 4 inch snowfall with ice on top the following Thursday night. Temperatures moderated the following weekend but there was still several inches of snow on the ground when we went back to school the following Tuesday and then to top that winter off we had thunder sleet with an ice storm in early February. My parents house kept snow/sleet on the ground in shady areas from early January until mid February.95/96 early Jan storm was my favorite all time storm. Sleet fell for 14 hours straight, for a total ~6". That definitely turned to glacier especial after the freezing rain event a week later.
Who has said we would have a cold Dec? The only evidence we have so far for this winter is to torch.Good thread title choice. There are a bunch of folks out there with their heads in the sand still believing we'll have a cold December despite no evidence supporting that idea and plenty of evidence going the other way.
The greatest signal on earth. If this would keep verifying as we get closer in time, I might get optimistic. Right now Im staying the course thumbs down. No head fakes for me this winterAbout as positive of a PNA you can get.

Anyone remember the December 2004 snow around Christmas ? I remember being so upset that Houston was getting snow and we werent.
I know when I lived in uptown 2 years ago that December storm was about 3 inches but I know there was a strong cut off towards South CharlotteIve lived in south Charlotte from 1995-2001, 2012-2020. Don't think I've ever seen half an inch of snow in December. I've surrendered until January already
thats the main thing there bud.$$$$$Look on the bright side. At least we'll save $$ on our electric bills
I try not to think about that event, I was so bummed because we were so close to seeing a White Christmas. I don't think the snow got any further north than Macon in GA and I remember the FL panhandle got some snow/sleet too. We did get a few snow flurries here and there but that was it.Anyone remember the December 2004 snow around Christmas ? I remember being so upset that Houston was getting snow and we werent.
For those of us in middle TN, the Nashville snow dome reared its ugly head during that storm. All we got was a dusting, while just 20 miles NW they got heavy ice and snow.Anyone remember the December 2004 snow around Christmas ? I remember being so upset that Houston was getting snow and we werent.
