Ostrich December

Final snowfall map.

Clearly there's a signal on all the models today for a strong northern stream trough/TPV lobe to come swinging into the central/eastern US around Christmas. That alone is noteworthy and impressive. The details of a) the exact strength and position of said lobe, and b) all the other pieces on the periphery/in the southern stream (inc. the pesky WAR) seem to be quite up in the air at the moment. For 10 days out though it's a consistent signal, and a good one to have.

Let’s be honest, if we saw more ensemble members with snowier solutions we would all be just as skeptical. If we see them we assume they will go away, if we don’t see them we assume they will never appear.
Yeah, the lack of ensemble members with snowier solutions does make me hesitate. It would be nice to see.
