Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

Snowing just north of Atlanta. Temperature is 35.7. My dewpoint has dropped to 12 (that's about a 15 degree drop in the past 30 minutes).

Tiny flakes here and 34 degrees ... looks like some of the weather stations just a few miles to my west already are around 30-31 degrees.

It is going to be fascinating to watch the bands work from Mississippi and Alabama into Georgia this evening. Going to be a fun night to watch unfold!

Yes but I can tell DGZ is struggling, radar vs ground truth (me personally) ... And yes heavy band to our W is legit no doubt

Im a good bit north of you now. (Just recently moved). We have a very nice dusting and a flizzard lol. Everything is coated though, hoping we can get some heavier bands. I haven't seen the big fat flakes since the onset.

The snow has stopped for now in TTown. Ended up with a light dusting. Roads are icing up, but haven't heard of any wrecks yet.

Where did you go to get this? I would like to use this in the future.

Right on the SPC website. It's experimental, but is going to replace the SREF. Yeah, there aren't "plumes" but you don't need them with this version.

Here is the link to the main page - http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/href/
Here is where you basically access it like the plumes, but way better: http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/href/...cref_members&sector=conus&rd=20180116&rt=1200

Okay, Mack, was that you that falsely reported snow in the Upstate on MPING? WTF.

Shane we are going to have to start seeing some moisture advent in from the south bc that line is anemic now.
We are fine. Most of our stuff will form just to our west and back toward the upstate the move our way. The radar won't really tell us much until the overnight hours into the wee hours of the morning.

Update from RAH

NEAR TERM /THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/...
As of 740 PM Tuesday...

Upper trof edging east is right on track, with mid cloudiness
reaching the Triad during the past hour. Timing of the precip is on
track as well, with latest HRRR soundings in the Triad indicative of
saturation in the -12 to -18 growth zone a little before midnight,
with the Triangle area following suit a couple of hours later.
Initial light precip will begin to blossom behind the front as it
moves into the western Piedmont after midnight, but may not reach
the ground for a couple of hours afterwards, with coverage
continuing to spread east through morning. Any changes prior to
arrival of 00Z guidance will be to update hourly grid trends.

Looking at GR 3.2 from FFC, looks like the Lake Lanier Snow Hole is starting... URGH
I suppose that's happening to me over Hart County? I dont see anybody ever post on here in my area. I usually don't ask many dumb questions but I just don't know what to excpect after following this thing for days.. Frustrating...

So how are the short range models looking for Atlanta? Snowing pretty good right NW of the city :)

Snowhole is still possible. Radar is about all you have to go by right now, some of the modeling is ugly around there.

I guess that's about it here in Ttown we got maybe a 1/2 inch at best... But these temperatures is not playing hope you guys east of here get a good snowfall
