Pattern May Thread

Only had scattered coverage (at most) of stratocumulus this morning. It has cleared out now, which should allow for temps to be off to the races.

The record high is 95*F, which might be in Jeopardy.

Have a day boys! Average winter temps in what should be late spring like temps. Mother Nature really treating me recently. At least for the people who don’t like it, the next week looks like absolutely pleasant spring weather.

This weather is so much better than what we saw recently with temps in the 90s. Gonna be in the low 70s out there today.

And just in case you're wondering (I probably will get what I'm hoping for), I do want it to be a little warmer for my trip to the beach.

Lol this weather is straight up dogwater

Dog water would be a lot sweeter than this . Heavy clouds and cold … all in the wrong season . Everyone’s miserable so Nicky gets to be happy.

Your days will come.

The drought this way continues to worsen by the day. Eventually, the other shoe will drop and that heat will release eastward.

So let the peanut gallery yuk it up for now...

And it looks like we'll escape the heat/humidity that's to our west. Looking at the 6z GFS we basically stay nice/cool(ish) right out to around day 14 or so. In the short term the low off our coast is saving us from the current central US warmth. Here's dew points for Wednesday:

When did Shetley relocate to the plains? ?

Average high is 80 just bout .Equivalent anomaly for today would quite literally be 100 . You up for 100? Actually my bad … 110 is the equivalent positive anomaly .

People complaining but they just had a week of summer weather, which was out of season too. There's going to be months of heat and misery ahead for them but some of us will enjoy today and the next few!

Actually it was perfectly in season . That’s may , it was seasonably above average . This ? This isn’t the same . If we were in the mid 90s for a week you would have a point

Boy I have not missed the humidity ?

You know if we didn't have models I'd be concerned about a big tornado day today. Literally none of them have felt remotely like this yet ?

Gonna have to wait and see yet again if we saw an intra-hour high of 95*F at DFW (both the 4pm and 5pm observations were 94*F).

RDU’s high temperature of 52 today was 2 degrees off the all-time record low maximum temperature of 50 degrees for May 8th, set back in 1917. If it was May 9th, it would’ve broken the record of 54.

It also is the third coldest high ever , and the coldest high of this century so far for May. All time is 49 in 1992. Absolute bollocks .

Mid May is trending warmer due to the pacific jet speeding up more/GOAK trough becoming more progressive. Same exact thing happened in mid-late April, need to be careful or we could find ourselves in a torch again because the more we speed up the jet, the more we release the airmass from the CUS C291619D-3BC6-4DBD-AA1B-43DF1B297CEC.png79E5C128-67B4-466A-97B6-296007EA0659.png

I'll have to do some research to see the most number of 90*F+ days DFW has ever seen in May. I wouldn't be surprised if this month makes a run for that record.

That 12z GFS only shows one sub-90*F+ day here the entire run.
