Pattern May: gateway to everyone's favorite season

Good setup for wind damage, scud clouds and shelf clouds. Public will probably falsely report tornadoes throughout NC today. Very few of any will actually occur (0-3).

Your actually saying some real sh*t, definitely a decent setup for shelfies with dry air aloft then good low level moisture

May as well be!☹️60D2597C-7455-4529-BCC3-F8B7CB00CC8A.png

The storms didn't make it here in time for it to not hit 91 at the house (and it was 82 early early, like it was probably about 10:00). So if rain didn't cool off the official NWS station up the road it's very possible it hit at least 93 up there.

I'm FINALLY getting my storm soon though.

I no longer like today’s setup too much rain and competing storms will void most of everyone west i77 of the severe storms. Charlotte metro and east tho is in play.

Storms were supposed to hit and be bad from 6-9 tonight, it’s already over, lol

Here’s that weakly, very disorganized rotating scud I saw, there was wayyy more lifted scud then rotation, but definitely was trying to rotate a bit, and seemed like it was wanting to reach the ground, lack of low level shear really prevented it from becoming a Nader in my opinion, if this storm would of happened with that outbreak we had a few weeks ago, it would have likely been a tornado, I wish I took a vid of it and posted it on Twitter, 2nd rotating storm I’ve seen this year

Definitely a beauty. Nothing tops this one I caught while chasing w/ one of my best buds from NC State near the NC-VA state line on Apr 1 2017.

Nice, Speaking of chasing, I need to start chasing, lol, storm bubble this year is broke tho, so far everything has not missed me except for winter storms, lol

Screenshot_20190504-181343_Samsung Internet.jpgTalk about instability. This is like a summer environment. May make a thread for next weeks severe threat soon.

Last post for a while, lol, likely gonna be some elevated convection tonight with some pretty loud thunder if this was to verify, soundings show a little inversion with MUcape on top E8DD0E7F-C468-4541-8997-246F228B4177.jpeg

Looks like Texas and Oklahoma are seeing some action today with storms. All is quiet here

Of note SPC has a large swath under a day 6 severe probabilities ?View attachment 19424

Not to shabby, I’d go with a MCS, winds closer to the convection (LA/MS/AR/TN) at lower levels isn’t really backing and are more SW/SSW, more supportive of a MCS/line segments, AL actually has the best backing of low level winds and stronger 850 (0–3km) shear on the gfs, little bit of a weird setup, 500 mb winds will likely be out of the west so any backing of lower level winds could be a issue 1ADEBC35-559C-4927-B31A-D3BC2C703EF0.png50155468-3F1E-4B8E-8228-844B1357E593.jpegDAD8299A-3DC2-43F7-B93A-E93286262318.png6F3A8838-F868-46B6-809C-E3A21D5B747E.png
