It also handled Hurricane Michael the best if I remember correctly. With the way that conditions look to be in the Gulf next week, I honestly think that Laura just needs to hold herself together as atleast a weak storm as it crosses the islands.
 
At this point I’m wondering if Laura goes under the islands and misses them that way. And get into the gulf moving between Cuba and cancan Mexico

That would be worst case if the south trend continues. Wouldn’t be good for southern Texas.

yeah thats one thing to note... there's nothing to really fall apart lol. The LLC if it even exists is removed from the convection now

its entirely possible don't forget we could see center reformations due to land too very typical of weak storms Hispanola has done weird things before

The fun part will be watching to which side of the islands does it consolidate.
 
okay this is a bit creepy in my memories tonight on FB from 2017 was the first model run showing a dead Harvey hitting the coast in 4 days as a major

Sound familiar? modernweenie

getting back to reality... the HWRF sets up a new center north of the islands so something to watch for

0Z RUN ON THE HWRF HAS IT JUST SKIRTING THE SOUTHERN MOST ISLAND IN THE KEYS AND THEN GETTING IN THE GOM. AT HOUR 81 IT HAS IT AT 944 MB WHICH IS AT OR NEARING CAT 4
