Hello from above the Arctic Circle in Rowan County, NC. What an unbelievable storm. My door hit a snow drift when I opened it! Never thought I’d see the day.

I think my 9.5” measurement is on the low end. It’s the flattest place I can find. More areas than not are 10” or more.

Whoever recorded the 2.0 in snowfall a half mile from my house NW of RDU doesn't know how to measure snow in windy conditions. 2.9 was measured at RDU and we sat in better precip than them all afternoon.

I can’t imagine putting stock into a 18z HRRR run 20+ hours out.

For folks over towards Raleigh, my worry level wouldn’t be too high. Just overreaction to a model that has flopped more than LeBron and can’t even get hour 0 right. (Pretty sure NAM3 isn’t doing well even at hr3 either.)

Sometimes, as it turns out, LeBron actually does get fouled ….

I'll never know how much we had. The drifting and blowing of snow is insane. Beside my house between the neighbors is a small yard. My side you can see grass my neighbors side has a 3 foot drift

I accumulated another 3-5 inches after 2am. It was still lightly snowing at 8am. Suns about to pop out.

Finished with close to 5 inches. Before 2 pm yesterday we were sitting at 2.5 inches thinking we were done with the sun peaking through. Then for about 8 hours it light to moderately snowed bringing us up to 5. Such a cool storm for a lot of people! Enjoyed going through almost all of the posts!

Measured 13" to 16" in a open area and the lowest i could find anywhere was 8". Solid 2 to 3 ft drifts pretty much everywhere. I didn't venture to far away from my porch though will try again later its to damn cold right now.

All 100 counties in NC got over an inch of snow… I’m curious if that sets a record. Other statewide snow storms I’ve seen accumulation maps of had at least a few counties with 0 or just a trace.

This may be true for South Carolina too.

Snow has just ended. My official measurement is 18". Some spots are well over 3 feet deep. Even open areas have over 2 feet of snow in spots. Absolutely incredible. I think Morehead City and Down East probably exceeded 20 inches.

This is definitive snow of my lifetime

Very light flurries falling from a mostly clear sky here now. Mother nature must think it can compensate for the mere dusting of snow it put down yesterday and then blew away!

Can someone smart and with access do an autopsy of the models and see what did good and what sucked? It would be nice to know what to count on. (Long med and short range really since there was so much variation for all of them)

The area on the map-- slightly northeast of Columbia--is where I reside. I said "5" or so" last night, and I see 5.4" per Packfan's map.

I think some snow bands were training over the same areas because the overall system was slow to move out. The eastern half of Wake County got anywhere from 5-6 inches with the heavy bands

I can’t believe Roxboro outperformed us in this setup.

NWS has us at over 14”. I believe it, it’s just very hard to measure. This shovel is sitting on concrete and the snow was slush on the bottom when scraped away so there was some compaction. The shovel is 20” tall.

5.5” seems high here, but maybe I just can’t measure. I got 4.5” and am right about where the 5.5” is on the Orange / Durham County border.
