Wintry King Kong Winter Storm Potential Feb 13th-16th

If and that’s a big if, you want an ice situation east of the mountains. Right now you gotta like where you stand this far out with the flip to more CAD already taking place on the models. They’re dropping temps by 4-5 degrees already from 24 hours ago.

Yep. Icon was right at 4 degrees colder here than it’s 18Z run. CAD doing CAD things.

I can see that trending colder for NC & Upstate SC for sure!

Beginning of the muted SER!

The icon continues to depict a major winter storm on Monday but what concerns me even more is the next wave that moves in Wednesday night. If that were to verify it would be bad news for parts of the midsouth. That’s is a lot of moisture with temps right at freezing

Really haven’t followed the ICON model much but I guess it doesn’t depict Ice in its output?

GFS has a little bit of a stronger push of cold air at 90 it would appear for the Midsouth. Snow line is pushing into extreme northwest ms this run.

Okay so we really have to be more precise with our descriptions. The 0z is warmer in N central and eastern AL and colder in NE and far W AL.

Ends with freezing drizzle for many with crashing temps

Austin is going to have their second snowfall of the season. That is unheard of... Many times us in the Southeast gotten snow and Texas has been shafted.. cold snaps last longer in SE

I still see this line moving another 50-75 miles southeast. Models doesn't do a good job on arctic air like this.
I think this is a really valid point. Reason I rode the CMC & RGEM with the last event. They seemed to have had a better handle and then when the HRRR was available Memphis started shifting their warnings southeastward.
