Truth! I was in a really bad ice storm in Montgomery years ago and seeing major tree limbs breaking, transformers blowing, and losing power is no fun.

I'm getting heavy sleet and freezing rain with thunder. Pretty surreal. I heard a tree popping in the distance earlier.

Although most things are just wet at 31, still see some ice building in tree tops here. Most PWS in a few mile radius are 30-32 here

Got up to 30 with a steady freezing rain. Water is flowing off the roof gutter drains. I guess the rain must be falling faster than it can freeze right now. I guess the temperature rose because there was more moisture flow off the Gulf than the arctic air could offset.

I don't understand hand wringing about people "wishing" for ice or the discussion about how much we want or don't want ice to happen. The weather doesn't care. This board is to discuss whether it WILL happen, not if we want it to happen.

HSV...from this morning on temps....seems pretty accurate for now
Temperatures will vary during the event, depending on your
location. In fact, a brief change over to rain isn`t out of the
question in areas along and east of Interstate 65. Models continue
to "tease" a warm up to at or above freezing in these areas. While a
warming trend is likely, the values advertised by the models for a
large chunk of the area are likely overdone (as they have been for
several days). Thus, we continue to have confidence that most areas
will see significant winter impacts during the warning window.
