I think the SE ridge is something that will play an important role for SC and Ga and even NC winters. I don’t remember much talk about it around 2009/2010 winter storms.

I mean this as being funny, but at this point we have Alabama west, possibly historic storm with precip and cold..... GA and the Carolinas, more rain and rain and maybe storms.

To be fair, parts of Alabama(Birmingham and points east)really isn't looking too great neither based on model trends. More like Western Alabama and point west are the areas that might a historic winter storm.
