Pattern June Presented by: Heat and Humidity

Been pouring rain here for a long time. It's nice to not be dry-slotted for once.

Dry slotted in Wilkes. Need the Raleigh moisture shoved 100miles west by the hands of God

DJF averages in Raleigh for the winter of 1889-1890. If you thought last winter was warm well this one was on a whole nother level. Winter of 1931-1932 was another one that had all 3 winter months average above 60

December- 63.5/43.5

January - 60.5/42.6

February- 61.5/43.9

Brad P is an idiot on FB saying this is a rare cold summer day. It’s still spring for 5 more days you crock of $$$$!!

Welp so much for any shot at rain for today. Amazing had 15 plus inches in the last 2 weeks of May and now we're struggling to manage a drop. At least it's unseasonably cool today.

Models pivot the moisture back to VA/NC border around Ashe County NC. They picked up over 2” yeatwrday So may be some flood watches from Ashe County NC to Blacksburg VA if models are right

In my years of weather watching there is 4 distinct areas in the Carolina's where convection struggles mightily in the summer. One is the area around and just south of Raleigh, the midlands of SC around Lake Murray, the area just southeast of Charlotte, and the GSP area of the upstate. Those areas always seem to get less than surrounding areas for whatever reason. Its nothing new and is expected every year.

Then other areas like Concord NC, Rockingham NC and the area just east of Columbia SC seem to get rain everyday during the summer.

I live on the south side of Raleigh and I can attest to this.

Actually where I am out in Union County, we have done really well with convection this year.

I'm going to probably walk this afternoon instead of evening. Amazing that I can...in June.

It still isn't anything like CO in summer, where dewpoints are typically in the 20s to 40s (with sunshine) with the similar temps to what we're having here now, but I MAY consider ditching the treadmill for an unusual middle June walk outside within the next few evenings. Dewpoints may sneak down into the high 50s along with a decent breeze. That type of somewhat comfy wx is probably more like a once a decade occurrence down here in mid June. But interestingly enough, there were mid 50 dewpoints here last year at this time though it was sunny with low 80s. I'll bump my post from then. So, two years in a row of this beautiful gift.

Its also summer technically on September 15th, but we all know which day has a lower average temperature between June 15th, and September 15th now don't we?

I lived very close to the damn on Lake Murray and can also attest to this.

You've done well up until now! I'll check in with you ar the end of August and see how you feel. Lol pay attention to those areas I mentioned when we're in a typical summer pattern of day time pulse convection. Same areas cash in while the same areas remain high and dry more often than not!

I live in central Raleigh. What's pulse-type convection? Never seen it here that's for sure. Maybe I'll ask my friends in Durham, Chapel Hill and up near Falls Lake, they should know.

And just like that the moisture fetch shifted north and we got dry slotted with ample sunshine. The water and air temps were close together so the water felt great even though it was only upper 60s temp wise.

Surf temps down a lot along the beaches , down to 74 around Wrightsville I think.

Durham does thats for sure! Used to deliver liquid nitrogen to Cree off Miami Blvd and would get soaked everytime I delivered there in summer!
