I used to be able to know when precip was going to start, stop, get heavier, get lighter in either at my location or another anywhere in the US by using the latest still image as well as animation. I also used to be able to track systems anywhere in or adjacent to the US by aminating closeup. I used to be able to estimate precip that falls during a certain interval in my or another area. It is such a disappointment that none of this can be done anymore. It is hard to fathom that in the 2020s we can't do what we could do in the 2000s! We're going backwards.

I see that that closeup from your link is just for the local area in IL/IN.

You can get to all the radars from that site. The Chicago radar loads by default, but there is a button you can click to bring a map of the entire US up with all the radars on it.

Thank you. I haven't found that button, but I'll keep checking. But as you said, it doesn't have estimated rainfall.

If anyone knows whether or not Radarscope works on a non-Mac laptop, please let me know.

Yes it should work on any laptop with a windows OS so if you had a chrome book for instance that might not work. Also do you have the storm total accumulation option?

Thanks for the information @NickyBGuarantee and the commiseration @GaWx ! glad to know its not just me. i might just have to try it out. i've blown 10 dollars on much less worthy stuff.

When you click on the link in my post you should see a small picture of the Chicago radar on the right, On that page click "Weather Analysis tools, then Satellite and Radar in the dropdown. That brings a US satellite map up. On the left side you should see the words "Nexrad Radar" with composite radar and dual pol nexrad under it. Click the one you want and the Chicago radar loads. Inside of the radar on the left there are 6 buttons. Moving your mouse over the top one shows the words "radar selection". Click that and the map should show up with all the radars on it.

Thank you. Regarding storm accumulation option, I don't have anything yet because I haven't downloaded it or anything else yet. But I'd certainly want it.

Gotcha I'd do my homework to make sure when you pay it carries over to your phone and vice versa. I can't believe there's no longer a free option with storm total rain.

Thanks! I just did this and was able to access that map that can be clicked for any radar site. At the site, I was able to see a very up to date still as well as a couple of hours animation. The only thing it lacks that I want is rainfall accum. So, this is much more than I had before and a big help. If I later decide to, I'll try RadarScope so I could see accum.

Honestly idek if I’m in tier 1 subscription I just bought the radar and haven’t paid anything since and still get an insane amount of features .. including the storm accumulation buttons ??‍♂️

To my knowledge, you must purchase the $9.99 phone app to use on mobile. Tier 1 ($9.99/yr) is what I have. More than adequate. I believe it is another $19.99 and a separate subscription to get the PC/laptop application.
 
We've had lows in the upper 60s the last few nights here in Nashville. While that may not be anything to brag about, we could easily be bottoming out in the upper 70s this time of year. :)
