Wintry January 3rd-6th, 2018 Winter Storm The ARCC/Xtreme Weather Special

3k nam looks great for the eastern nc Piedmont. Some totals over a foot. Over 10” for Raleigh. We toss?
Yeah that jackpot zone on the 3k nam is spot on where Webb and 1300 have been saying.... not throwing in the towel here just yet

Yep, SC gets moisture robbed. CAE catches the shaft like they always have. Ugh.. so frustrating, it's right there.

Lol 3km is awesome for NC. We don’t really need a phase when the vort max is positive tilted over the panhandle and very strong.

I haven't read any comments, but obviously at H5 this was a trend to the RGEM. I am actually very encouraged to still see the jackpot zone stay where it does even with those changes.
Agreed. And don’t read any comments!

I'm riding the 3k NAM to glory or the glorious cliff...

You guys reel it in!!!!:)

IMO, still a great run for the eastern third of NC and SC. Sure, people aren't getting 10-20 inches of snow, but I think people need to be realistic about getting a blockbuster event. 4-6 inches is still enough to make everything look gorgeous.

I mean yea it sucks for places that were fringed by the most west model. But this way it's not terrible

Im hoping you guys in Raleigh get something and out Mets way. I mean let's be real the Nam has been the only model showing anything in Charlotte.

If we could get the RGEM showing 4” here, I’d feel much better about actually seeing some accumulating snow here, regardless of what the globals show.

Yeah I’m with you. More than anything I just want to see some snow take advantage of these insanely cold grounds. Heard thru the grapevine RGEM throws precip back to the triad, but heavier returns are still hanging around the coast

Well one thing's answered for sure by The NAM at least for now is that the fact is probably going to happen late enough for areas Inland in Georgia South Carolina to not see much. There's a better shot Inland in South Carolina. The coastlines will still do pretty good. And I'm impressed for Central and Eastern North Carolina

The 0Z NAM is a tremendous hit on SAV with a whopping 1.5" of qpf with 1.1" of it as ZR and 0.40" as SN! No way I'm buying into a setup like this to bring SAV its biggest ice storm by a country mile since 1922. Where's the wedge/shallow cold air to cause it? This looks bogus.

For us here in eastern South Carolina it's a good bet to call for 1-2 inches of Snow u think?

That ball of energy in the Great Lakes is what messed us up this run. It impeded the chaser from diving south quicker.

Yep. Blame the ball. I mentioned this during the play by play of the 12km Nam, it was painful to watch. Though I didn’t expect NC to fair well, I figured it would cause a complete whiff.

The next storm will probably drop 6 inches from newberry to Greenville to rock hill to charlotte while columbia gets a cold rain.
