Wintry January 21-23 2025

I am uncomfortably on the line now with that evil dry zone. Right on the edge. But at least saw a good bit of snow today and the last storm. I'm satisfied and grateful. And hoping this is a banger for friends starving for snow. Didn't expect what I wound up getting today. Had a hunch last nite that it would set up sharply like this.

I am new here but why do NWS Stations in NC seem so hesitant to up their forecasts and issue warnings for Ral/Durham/etc. even when it appears obvious that the storm is overperforming?
It's far easier to apologize for giving people more snow than expected than it is for promising and not delivering.

Man. They even were more aggressive than everything else
There is a clear disconnect between news outlets and the national weather service here in Atlanta. FFC said the same thing in 2014 and the same thing today. So they had to change from an advisory to warning so citizens would take it more seriously I suppose.

What is going on over Garner, NC? Returns all around but there? Clayton/Garner?
It's just radar presentation. Radar beams start at the ground and go out and up. The further away from the radar the higher up the beam is scanning. Which is why it can appear that there is precip everywhere with a circle around the radar. It's just a visual thing when in reality everywhere you see precip is moistening the column

Snow coming to an end in Midtown now, I can see the sky changing around off to my northwest. Dry air coming in.
Sadly, it's looking like it. definitely dropped off dramatically in the last 5 minutes. Ugh. But man, the poor folks NW of us 😞. Was hoping this would roll on into the evening.

That sharp cutoff line that was well modeled the last few days is slowly pushing SE and I'd expect snow will taper off quickly within the next 30 minutes here in N ATL, but the SE metro will enjoy it for what looks like a couple more hours or so
40 miles east of Atlanta here. Man, I'm eyeing that surge of moisture moving up 85 from north of Montgomery. I'm beginning to think I may catch the back edge of that in an hour or so. wow.

really struggling in Columbia with rates so far. Wanted to hold off before speaking out loud on it but sheesh. It’s like an aggressive dandruff blizzard. Taking forever to add up. No beef to the flakes at all.
yeah I had some decent size flakes for little while now just alot of dandruff
