Wintry January 21-23 2025

I know where it is, thanks. Not buying it friend. If precip is falling at one point I consider the column to be moist enough to happen. If 20 miles down the road (small additive to the height of the beam here) has precip but I do not, what does that mean is above me? Radar returns when above tilt 1 look GENERALLY the same. Can that not be seen as dry air?

Tilt 1 -4. It’s very much different

Finally got an advisory. And something interesting my sister in Albany just said. Brooks county in GA has a curfew until noon on Wednesday. They said violating the curfew is a misdemeanor and charged with a fine of up to a thousand bucks. Surely that is not true. She was reading it somewhere. Crazy things. Also crazy how much snow she is getting. She is so excited and CANNOT believe it.

Have to give FFC credit on this one. While the modeling didn't really show what many locations have gotten, they really made a good call in the lead up. Honestly, I thought they would bust big in Atlanta proper, but they were pretty dang good. While I think they will bust adding my area to the WWA, props overall to them with this storm. We are always quick to second guess and complain ... but we also should be quick to compliment when deserved as well. These are tough setups to predict.

I know it’s not a “hole” but missing precip not falling in the same general area of the same band where it should be and you want to tell me it’s not due to dry air. All while having reports (now 360) around me. Sure, I’ll go with that.

That's not the noted 'dry slot'. This is column saturation. Something different

Keep looking at that moisture on the radar and as soon as it gets close to wake, it looks like it’s dissipating. Am I seeing it wrong?

Radar beam angled up, hits snow aloft that isn’t reaching the ground due to dry air. That will slowly advance closer and close to Wake and eventually we’ll fill in and snow
