Pattern January 2017 Discussion

We might have our first serious threat of the year. It is during a climatological time period for us.
 
:smileypresents:Major winter storm for the southeast. GFS still showing this possible storm for days now. Time frame is getting closer as well. If this storm would happen, then it starts around hr 232,240ish around the 3/4th of January. Lol ok I'm getting carried away
 
I got to say, I'm actually getting excited about this.
 
Wow, I think I'm more pleased with the consistency of GFS regarding this solution. Like my Falcons this year, I'm waiting for that consistency to come to a halt but it hasn't yet, every runs seems to be better and better.
 
Yeah, I'll pass on the ice.  I'd like to see the blocking hold longer of course though.

obviously no one takes these op runs seriously verbatim but I go back to the point I made earlier today. If that pattern verifies, it will be a nice overrunning pattern. Will depend on how far SE the front can get. Would be a massive gradient NW /SE. These overrunning  situations are the kind that could make someone's winter while breaking someone's heart just 20/30 miles away. I've seen it many many times with overrunning . someone cashes in while  someone close by gets nothing but rain. The further NW you are in the SE the higher the chance you will have initially

GFS shows a long event here in north ala...this is for 6AM Fri and it has already been snowing overnight and continues all day into friday night

No one is screwed and no one's hit the jackpot, yet. It's a op run. Biggest thing is its in line with alot of other guidance, ens espeacilly showing a pretty favorable pattern ripe with opportunities right around the corner during prime climo. Can't ask for much more. Win or loose atleast we get an at bat.
