Pattern Jammin' January

Euro appears to have a snowstorm for Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi around day 10. Temps look close just glancing on my phone but I don’t have access to all the good stuff right now
Yes. Here's the total map. Let's see what the EPS says. It's a good sign when the Kuchera map gives 16" when the 10:1 map only gives 10". That's some high ratio powder in TN.

Despite earlier FV3 runs showing single digits to mid teens at ATL for the coldest, the latest run doesn't get below the lower 20s through hour 384. Yes, that's still cold (and future runs will likely revert back to very cold at times), but nothing like what the FV3 was showing. FV3 cold bias tendencies ftl.

We can’t get one southern wave without the NS crapping on it. It’s pathetic. Move to banter if you will but it’s a hard reality

Models have been so bad man it’s infuriating, they have handled energy horribly ever since that dec storm

The fv3 has a fantasy storm that would crush the Carolinas. In February lol

I'm curious as to see what one of these dragging flurries thru does down here in this new wet pattern. For years the fronts would tilt such that I only got the crumbs when it pull thru here. The tail end would dry up as it passed the Ala line. By the time it got here it was 3 drops and a finger wave. Caa in the upper levels dried the air right out. If Atl got 4 inches of snow, I'd get a half inch, or a dusting. During the droughts I'd get just enough rain to dot the dust and the northern end of the front got good rain. Now, things have changed and I get rain like the fabled flood every time a front drags thru. Will this translate onto a front dragging in snow on the back side? I'm interested to see. The cold air needs to move into a more moisture laden air mass than I used to get. All the moisture was busy moving out of Ga by the time the cold air found me.

Hey, Greg :) I was thinking of you when I wrote this, lol.

Looks to me Goofy likes next weekend for something to happen on the cold side. Get that clipper to phase with that stuff underneath and we've got something. It'll be an interesting week if that business holds next weekend/early week. Get a pv to drop in to the mix and get us another blizzard. I'm ready..it's been a while, and it made me like it :)

LOL! Tony, I know you love rubbing salt in that old wound.

Here's hoping this winter brings you the sleet storm of your dreams my friend. As long as that PV hangs around close enough, you never know. You certainly can't go by model guidance this season. Quite possibly, the worst model performance that I can seem to remember altough I know its probably been worse.

So, are we in the better pattern for more winter storm chances yet, and somehow missing the storms, or have we not gotten into that pattern that was supposed to be so good yet?
